Default Jeb Bush: GOP Should Set Up "Shadow Government"

And a founding member of the PNAC and huge beneficiary of the Savings and Loan Crisis speaks out about creating a Shadow Government. Nixon would be proud and I bet Putin agrees.

Quote:
Via ThinkProgress, in an interview with NewsMax, President Bush's brother Jeb says the Republican party should not cave to a Democratic majority. Rather, they should set up a "shadow government" to provide a counter-agenda.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush tells Newsmax that the GOP must broaden its appeal to avoid becoming "the old white-guy party," and recommends that Republicans create a "shadow government" to engage Democrats on important issues as the incoming Obama administration seeks to enact its agenda.

In a wide-ranging interview with Newsmax, the popular former governor and younger brother of President George W. Bush said the 2008 election was neither "transformational" nor a landslide. For example, he noted that Barack Obama's significant fundraising advantage over John McCain played a key role in Democratic success this year.

Bush urged Republicans not to abandon their core conservative principles in favor of a "Democratic-lite" agenda. Still, the GOP does need to do some real soul-searching, he said.

"If you take the [last] two election cycles, there's real cause for concern, no question about it," he said.

There is good news for Republicans, Bush said: The United States remains "basically a center-right country." He cited President-elect Barack Obama's stance on taxes as an example.

...

The party should establish a loyal opposition and "organize ourselves in the form of a shadow government" that would address key issues, providing the public with "a loftier debate about policy" rather than mere partisanship.

Note, not that I agree with it, but basically whenever one party gets into power, the other party basically becomes obstructionists...this idea of partisanship is just dead in Washington.

uhm, what exactly did the dems obstruct over the last 8 yrs? the war? patriot act? illegal spying on citizens? none of the above??? they told the retards that staying the course in the war was gonna end up shitty but that is about all they did as far as obstruction, unless you call being anti-regressive as obstructionism, which it isn't by any stretch... and hey look what happened? big fucking mess. the republicans are professional obstructionists, that is all they do, it is the basis of their party, obstruct the dumbocrats at every chance, look waht they did to carter, he was talking about complete oil independence and ridding the world of nukes, they obstructed him like a mother fucker seeing as they are oil tycoons who are on record stating they could get us into a nuclear war and win it!!! they couldnt let him do what every fuckin' body is trying to do right now, stop people from having nukes and getting off oil... the fact that the dems cant stand up for themselves is the pathetic part about them, that and that they insist on always being nice and working with the republicans even though they keep backstabbing them every chance they get

Why didn't they? Why didn't the Democrats when they get control of congress stop the war in Iraq? Etc, etc, etc.

They were planning for the next election, so they helped America flounder a few extra years so they can win an election. So the motives of the party were placed before what America needs.

I was reading a little on Theodore Roosevelt today, he's probably my favorite President and he said this in 1912 and it's amazing how it still holds true today:

Quote:
To destroy this invisible Government, to dissolve the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day.

Invisible? Shadow? lol, same thing, and its funny how nearly 100 years ago we had a man that could see what was happening to America and how we needed to address the problem even back then.

The second political parties, the second politicians, serve the party more than the people, serve the corporations more than the people, that's when we have a problem.

I don't condone this idea of a "shadow" government, but it exists, both sides do it to the detriment of America. I'm honestly at the point where I'm willing to take a time of anarchy to remove the slime that's destroying America.
