(CNN) - An African-American congressman from Florida is apologizing for his comment that black and Jewish voters should not support Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin because "anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks."

"I regret the comments I made last Tuesday that were not smart and certainly not relevant to hunters or sportsmen," Rep. Alcee Hastings said in a statement issued Monday.

Republicans didn't "spearhead" the Civil Rights Act you idiot. The bill, the most comprehensive civilr rights bill ever introduced, was proposed by President Kennedy in response to the violence in the south. Kennedy introduced the bill in the more liberal and less aggressive atmosphere of the House of Representatives.

By the time it got to the Senate, Senator Evertett Dirksen rallied the republicans in a speech he called "The time has come." Dirksen is a civil rights hero.

A greater percentage of republicans supported the bill than democrats because the democrats were full of dixiecrats from the south .. but by no sane conclusion did republicans "spearhead" the bill.

At one time nearly all blacks were republicans. but that changed forever by the time Nixon and the republicans embarked on the southern strategy and openly courted racists in the south .. which is why republicans now usually get about 8% of the African-American vote.

The fact that you don't know history seems to be more proof that you spent your life in the military because you were too dumb to do otherwise.

The army is for dumb people? .. I have a degree in IT, worked for the US Congress, and major corporations.
