Tea Party Activists Stop Short Of Calling For John Boehner To Resign As Speaker For Now

Tea Party activists rallying in Washington say House Speaker John Boehner should stay in his job -- for now.

Gathered across the street from the Capitol Wednesday, members of the populist movement said they want Boehner to rebuff any deals that don't include steep spending cuts, even if the Aug. 2 deadline passes and the U.S. begins a first-ever default.

One group in the loosely-affiliated movement, Tea Party Nation, issued an online call Wednesday for Boehner to step down.

"Boehner has no real interest in solving the problems this country faces," wrote the organization's founder, Judson Phillips, in a blog post, according to The Hill. "We need a Speaker who is a leader. We need someone with courage and vision. Boehner has none of those qualities. He is not a leader."

    The Hill reports:

Phillips urged readers to call their legislators and advocate for Boehner "to go" and be replaced by a "Tea Party Speaker of the House."
But in Washington, some activists said that the Ohio Republican deserves time to strike what they consider a good deal. Illinois Republican Rep. Joe Walsh, a House freshman who attended the event, said Boehner is doing a "hell of a job" and that any talk of resignation is inappropriate.

The only hope is for campaign finance reform and possibly term limits in the House and Senate. Obama is beholden to his Goldman Sachs masters, while Boehner and the Republicans are at the mercy of the retarded Frankenstein they helped create. Until then, and short of another civil war, the U.S. no longer seems governable. A shame the rest of the global economy has to 'suffer inbreds'.

You might as well cancel the election and save a lot of money.

The infighting from the Repub's........... will hand the election to Obama.

Well the way things are going the world will not have to suffer much longer before a new boss comes to town........

Funny/sad thing to watch- having grown up hearing day & night about the "evils of communism" it is now the "good capitalist" orchestrating the rummage sale of American capitalism...........

Perhaps what is even sadder, is those duped rightwing zealots cheering on their own demise...

They are stupid enough to praise a $10 cheaper TV made overseas while their home value drops $10,000 a year cause their neighbors lose their jobs & go bankrupt........

    Yep..........

It is not unique to this time in history, there are many parallels in history, but actually watching it day by day is painful.......

That is is. As will be the quick spike in U.S. interest rates (when a fragile economy can least afford it) should a default or downgrade in credit rating occur.

What is odd also is how passive the market has been.... It was down a bit today, but they don't seem scared............ @ least not yet...........????
