California is on the verge of laying off about 100,000 public employees.
CA has managed to avoid taking this dire action until NOW. Thru deficit spending and borrowing, refinancing and assorted accounting gimmickry.
Tragically, these firings can be put off no longer.
Ask a teacher.
These are really good jobs we're talking about. Professions, even. Well paying, strong benefits, good retirements.
City, state and municipals. Ask AFSCME.
Ahnold announced recently an initial target of 60G.
Gavin-So-Good-Looking Newsom of Frisco says 6G. At his city level.
What's happening in CA is going on nationwide.
Michigan and Florida are worse.
We're looking at a million public layoffs, coast to coast, in the next 12 months.
The stimulus, more aptly styled Plan Pelosi, is not reaching these people, will not forestall the HIT coming to CA.
Ask Ahnold.
It is supremely perplexing that the president is not preparing for this approaching TSUNAMI.
Indeed, characteristically ostrich-like, he can't even SEE it.
In normal times, a dozen parameters shape our political landscape---the border, abortion rights, gay marriage, guns...
These are NOT normal times.
Today America like a mom worries over but one wrinkle: the economy, the economy, the economy.
Even more narrowly, we watch: unemployment, unemployment, unemployment.
If jobless numbers in November, 2010 or/and November, 2012 are like they are today, the party of lobes will be lynched.
If employment figures improve, on the other hand, the GOP remains irrelevant.
It's that simple.
Meanwhile, about a million of the most cushy sinecures in America are about to be axed.
The prophetic Prof apologizes for having to apprise you of such problematic development.
But he presumes you'd prefer not to be surprised when it happens.
