Report: Health Industry Employing Hundreds of Ex-Gov. Officials (http://www.democracynow.org/2009/7/6/headlines#8)

Here in the United States, the Washington Post is reporting the nation’s heath care industry has hired more than 350 former government officials and members of Congress to sway health care reform efforts on Capital Hill. According to lobbying records, three out of every four major health care companies have at least one former government insider on the payroll. Nearly half held positions under key committees and lawmakers including Senators Max Baucus and Charles Grassley. Bacaus is chair of the Senate Finance Committee which is largely steering health care reform efforts. Baucus’s aides recently held a meeting with a group of lobbyists that included two of his former chiefs of staff. The Washington Post says the health care industry is now spending $1.4 million dollars a day on lobbying, totaling $126 million dollars in the first fiscal quarter.

What does that mean? Insurance companies or hospitals? That means nothing. A handful of govt employees will have no effect on the top brass at those places.

it boggles the mind

health care industry is throwing buckets of money at our politicians and the public in order to keep things the way they are as much as possible. their insane profit depends on that.

and here you have conservatives and even some dems siding with them.

how about they spend less money influencing washington and funnel that same money to help people get better. they can start with all the customers they denied claims to due to some ridiculous loophole.

I got a rope. let's get busy & clean up US government.

When the 'legal' system is unjust, the only remaining option is people taking real justice into their own hands.

Think of how satisfying it will be to see these rotten suckers swinging on the end of a rope, mmmmm.

Bring popcorn, potatochips, pizza & yard chairs.

President Barack Obama on Health Care

"Well, I think it should be a right for every American. In a country as wealthy as ours, for us to have people who are going bankrupt because they can’t pay their medical bills--for my mother to die of cancer at the age of 53 and have to spend the last months of her life in the hospital room arguing with insurance companies because they’re saying that this may be a pre-existing condition and they don’t have to pay her treatment, there’s something fundamentally wrong about that."
