Investigators found a sinister note inside the car of the geriatric neo-Nazi accused of storming the Holocaust Museum, court papers released Thursday show.

"You want my weapons - this is how you'll get them," reads the note discovered inside James von Brunn's car shortly after his murderous rampage.

"The Holocaust is a lie.

Obama was created by Jews."

The hateful screed emerged as police revealed that Stephen Tyrone Johns, 39, opened the door for von Brunn before the hatemonger turned the museum lobby into a shooting gallery.

"Johns was kind enough to open the door to allow him to enter," said Washington Police Chief Cathy Lanier. "As he entered, he raised the rifle, opened fire, striking Special Police Officer Johns."

Johns took a bullet in his torso and died a short while later. Two guards returned fire, critically wounding von Brunn, 88.

The Holocaust-denying, white supremacist will be charged with murder and using a firearm on federal property - capital crimes that could lead to von Brunn receiving the death penalty, officials said.

Johns' mother, Jacqueline Carter, said Thursday she feels like she's stuck in a "bad nightmare."

"It's the hardest thing I think any mother can go through."

Carter added: "With it being this way, from the hands of someone so filled with hatred, I would hope that this person would eventually pull himself together and get rid of some of that venom inside."

Johns' former colleagues remembered the slain guard Thursday as a gentle giant who went out of his way to be kind to museum visitors.

"He was a big guy with a big heart," said Milton Talley, 44, a former colleague of Johns. "He'd do anything for the visitors that came to the museum."

Johns, a diehard Redskins fan, lived in Temple Hills in Maryland. He graduated in 1988 from the Crossland High School in Temple Hills.

On Monday mornings in the fall, Johns often led spirited debates among his co-workers about the NFL, former colleagues said.

"He and the other guards would be talking smack back and forth about the Redskins and the Cowboys," Burcky said.

Johns' former colleagues said that he had remarried about a year ago, and had at least one child.

"If you had to pick someone who exuded caring and seeing the best in people, that was him," said Bill Parsons, chief of staff at the museum. "He was terrific at it."

"He was this big guy with a big smile. If we ever had a football team, he would have been one of our linebackers."

Von Brunn spewed hate online for decades. In his self-published book, "Kill the Best Gentiles," he railed against a Jewish conspiracy to "destroy the white gene pool."

Von Brunn spent more than six years in prison after he tried to hold Federal Reserve officials hostage in 1981.

Report: Von Brunn targeted Weekly Standard

James Von Brunn, the 88-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed a guard at the U.S. Holocaust Museum on Wednesday, was reportedly carrying a long list of potential targets at the time of the attack. Among the names on it are some that may surprise a few people, including the Weekly Standard and a Fox News office.

Politico's Ben Smith reports (http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0609/Weekly_Standard_may_have_been_shooter_target.html# comments) that the Standard, a conservative magazine founded by Bill Kristol, got a visit from FBI agents yesterday, and that the agents told staffers they'd found the office address on a piece of paper "associated with" Von Brunn.

Separately, a Fox affiliate reports (http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/news/national/090610Shots_Fired_AT_Holocaust_Museum) that during a search of Von Brunn's car, law enforcement found a notebook that contained information about "six to nine locations in the D.C. area," including what's described only as "a Fox News location," the White House, the Capitol, the Washington Post and, of course, the Holocaust Museum.

Really, it shouldn't be all that surprising that Von Brunn would have directed some of his ire at the Weekly Standard. Based on his writing published to the Internet, his hatred of Jews appears to be pretty all-encompassing. Like a lot of people on the fringe, that hatred extends to neo-conservatives, who he saw as running U.S. foreign policy in service of Israel. Considering the Weekly Standard's prominence as an outlet for writers like Kristol, it was natural that he'd focus on it. (As for Fox News and the Washington Post, well, the old
canard that Jews run the media dies hard.)

Von Brunn has now been formally charged in the case. According to the criminal complaint (http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/06/11/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5081368.shtml), among the things he'd written in the notebook was, "Obama was created by Jews. Obama does what his Jew owners tell him to do. Jews captured America's money. Jews control the mass media... JVB swore (LT USNR) to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Jews -- Bolsheviks -- Zionist are America's enemies." The complaint also reveals that Von Brunn was shot in the face, apparently by a shot fired by another museum guard, who was using a .38 caliber weapon. Von Brunn was allegedly using a .22 caliber rifle.

rg....I never attempted to assign this guy to a political party and find it quite offensive that you would even accuse me of that especially in light of what I have posted on this incident.

Yes, most times these people belong to parties that are on the fringe if they belong to a party at all. However, the point I have been making is that everyone has a belief that falls somewhere along the political spectrum, either right or left. People like this guy usually fall somewhere to the extreme side of that spectrum. In this guy's case, his beliefs are way out to the right. Had he written about the illegality of the Iraq war and walked into some military building and opened fire, I would say he was a far left wacko.
