It never fails, those who lecture Amercia on how to live their lives - never walk the walk on their own
However, I'm sure they've invested plenty of carbon offsets into their own companies - or Al Gores company
2008 Candidates Rely on Private Jets
By JIM KUHNHENN

WASHINGTON -- A flock of small jets took flight from Washington Thursday, each carrying a Democratic presidential candidate to South Carolina for the first debate of the political season.
For Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd and Joe Biden, it was wheels up shortly after they voted in favor of legislation requiring that U.S. troops begin returning home from Iraq in the fall.
No one jet pooled, no one took commercial flights to save money, fuel or emissions.
All but Biden, who flew on a private jet, chartered their flights -- a campaign expense of between $7,500 and $9,000.
Federal Election Commission rules allow candidates to pay only the equivalent of first-class fare to fly on private jets owned by corporations or other special interests. But a Senate ethics bill approved earlier this year would require senators flying on corporate jets to pay full charter rates. The legislation must still be reconciled with a House bill and has yet to become law.
Yeah. So you think they should drive around in busses, eh?

If Rudy and McCain were lecturing me on how I need to lower my standard of living and drive smaller cars - I would call them on it
Then we have Al Gore bellowing how man is destroying the earth - while his mansion conumes 20 times the energy of the average home
Not to mention $1000/month gas bills, and his private jet travel
Tommy

Rudy is speaking about gay marriage
yes but how can one go around saying gay marriage is bad for traditional marriages and be married three times
was it the gays who made him announce his divorce in a press cofference before he even told his wife
I could have voted for Rudy
I would be happy if he won, I still might be.... but the 3 wives thing does bother me a bit
especially when he goes around talking about values
and anyone who lived in NYC knows hes a skirt chaser and he did raise taxes on everything

Considering the legacy of Bill Clinton - a skirt chaser would be a resume enhancemnet for Dems
BTW - Rudy cut taxes 23 times as Major and reduced the welfare rolls

but when Rudy talks about traditional values
is that the same as Al Gore taking private jets
give me a straight anwser, spare me the talking points please
as far as him cutting taxes
I was there and lived it, the only good thing he did was get rid of the window washers, Also I remember he left the city broke and Bloomberg now has a surplus of a couple hundred million

Is that why Rudy was reelected in a very blue city
Rudy cut more taxes than any Mayor in New York City history, reducing or eliminating 23 city taxes that saved individuals and businesses more than $8 billion and reduced New Yorkers’ overall tax-burden by 22%. By the end of Giuliani’s term in office, New Yorkers enjoyed their lowest tax burden in three decades, along with 427,600 new private sector jobs, the strongest seven-year gain on record.
Rudy is not lecturing the rest of us on how to live our lives - Gore does everyday

BTW, Rudy inherited a $2.3 billion dollar budget deficit and turned it into a multi-billion dollar surplus
with tax CUTS!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a general disconnect between politicians and the average person. Again, this goes for both political parties, and it makes for a governing body that's out of touch with general population.
If you're paying $400 for a haircut, ride around in limos, private jets, etc, all day long...it does kind of take away your perspective on what the common man needs. Most of the politicians are elitists, out of touch with the reality of the average American, and therefore governs not for the majority, but for the minority of wealthy because that's what they understand.

But Dems are a different breed. They constantly lecture the folks how how they should live their lives - then ignore their own lecture
Mr. Blue

Perhaps in that regard Dems are a bit hypocritical, but it's like a Religious Republican getting caught in a call girl scandal or gay sex with an intern...there is plenty of hypocrisy in Washington to go around.
It doesn't negate the fact that there is a disconnect between politicians and their constituents. Politicians live in this artificial bubble that has very little to do with reality.
Americans care about the basics and politicians have forgotten what the basics are because they live in this Washington vacuum.

Dems sat on the Foley emails for months so they could use them in time for the election
Dems on the other hand, protect their own
Does the name Gerry Studds mean anything to you?

at least they came out - your republican prez still hides behind his gayness yet everyone in Washington knows what he did when daddy was in office
http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2003/02/06/15709461.php
I suppose I should have added that your use of Studds is really weird since he admitted it as did the republican Dan Crane who was also reprimanded at the same time for the exact same thing - and neither one of them did anything illegal - Gingrich (who led the charge against both of them at the time) just wanted to make an example of Studds but he missed the fact that Crane was involved too - if memory serves Crane was not reelected and Studds continued to be reelected for a few more terms
I also wonder why you used this example as both pages involved with both the rep and dem at the time were in consensual relationships with Crane and Studds and both were of legal age
And neither one of the congressmen was protected by their parties as you assert - go read some history kid

Also the Tobias call girl scandal even though I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get caught up in that. The fact remains you're pointing at the Democrats for being hypocritical on the topic of the environment. Now, I don't disagree with that completely. I do think they're hypocritical to some extent.
However, hypocrisy exists on both sides of the isle. When you have Republicans that use call girls, gay interns, etc, etc, and at the same time spout religious conviction and sanctity of marriage...you have to be willing as an adult to admit that they're hypocrites as well.
So, both parties are hypocritical, hell most people are hypocritical regardless of party politics, and suddenly getting shocked at that fact is kind of like discovering the nose on your face...it's not that big of a deal.

You sick stupid fuck.

And make no mistake: that's exactly where you're going.
Right along with Little Georgie and Grandpa Cheney.
