Regardless of how I feel about Imus (I thought he had died years ago) or Rush (The Big Fat Head)...I find it a little disconcerting firing people for expressing opinions, regardless of how vile they are, because I'm a Freedom of Speech nut.
The problem is freedom of speech can't be selectively applied. Just because someone says something offensive doesn't mean they should be silenced. If we as a people start selectively applying freedom of speech it is no longer a freedom.
I may vehemently disagree with a group, organization, or individual, but I always support their right to say what they have on their mind. Most of the times these morons look like morons and they only hurt themselves.

That reminds me I have to pay Michael J Fox $15 for sneaking into his movies through the fire escape when I was a kid.

I think people who speak to more than a thousand people daily, using broadcast bandwith owned by all citizens, should pass some level of sanity testing demanded by the Surgeon General who is responsible for our general health.
In keeping with the notion that we dummies don't know that cigarettes and alchohol, though a staple for some of us, are bad for our physical health...coulter types and her ilk, are poison for our mental well being.
Her "drive by" style is designed to smear shit on everything she touches her attention upon...I think this is evidence of insanity.
Who could wake up each morining dreaming of new and better ways to destroy thier fellow's character, but an insane person? This is why these shit flinging "stars" appear to be in a reality tailspin.

Here are some great nicknamers for the right wing radio " blow" hosts: Mush Windbag, Shit Hannity, Dennis " the dumbass" Prager, Michael ' the deadhead" Medved, Loser Ingrate. They make it sooooooooooo easy. You could put all the right wing talk "blow" hosts in a wet paper bag & none of 'em would come out except North & he'd kill 'em all before he came out.

Having a different accent when talking to crowds is not as bad as called someone the 'Magic Negro'. Just because one person does it does not make it right.
I would presume that Rush has a high audience in the south where they are all unemployed, uneducated hillbillies who like to leave the radio on when they are fucking their sisters?

maybe the real reason there aren't any liberal radio shows is cause
most of the prospective listeners are listening to Howard or opie

was Rush's ratings better then Imus, I don't know the numbers but I doubt it

You are having a laugh about not seeing millions trying to sneak into England? We have one of the worst immigration problems in the world. Far worse than America and allowing they are only crossing one border to get to the US as opposed to treking all though Europe to get into England I think that shows how good our country is. Although it also shows how easy we are as a nation to supply people with free houses, health care and schooling.

The US is no longer a superpower - in both economics and military power - the Chinese have seen to that - amazing to think every time you are buying something at Walmart you are just giving the Chinese even more money :lmao2: and their military in at least twice as strong as ours - and they know it

The annual budget defict is down over 50%
Budget defict is a sort of trick word used to fool people
thats a spin
thats a yearly number, so even if we take you at your word that the budget deficit is down 50% that means he is still spending more money then we are taking in and putting us deeper in debt
and of course that number doesnt include the extra war spending the president is asking for
what you need to look at is the whole national debt
you can see a chart here

Uhhh - deficit??? what does that have to do with economy - obviously you have no background in economics
Heres a quick lesson - last year the US debt was just over 7 trillion dollars
This year - Bush deferred paying off some of the debt so that it would look like we have less of a deficit - the actual debt at the end of this fiscal year(Oct) will be over 9 trillion dollars - to put that into perspective - every US citizen is in debt to the US government to the tune of about $29,000 - including every baby born

The deficit is shrinking and revenues are soaring. Libs can't understand how tax cuts are so damn good for the economy
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. tax receipts from individuals hit a record one-day high of $48.7 billion on April 24, a Treasury Department official said on Wednesday
The previous record was $36.4 billion, set on April 25, 2006, said Jennifer Zuccarelli, a Treasury spokeswoman.
The record reflects taxes not withheld from individuals over the course of the year, but paid to the government before this year's April 17 income-tax deadline.
While some of those tax payments come from taxpayers who withheld less tax from their paychecks than they owed, much of it was owed on income from investments or profits.
"This reflects the fact that Americans in high-income brackets had a very good year in 2006," said Lou Crandall, chief economist at Wrightson ICAP in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The one-day total is a small fraction of the estimated $2.5 trillion in overall tax receipts the government is likely to collect in fiscal 2007, Crandall said.
But strong tax revenues point to the likelihood of a shrinking budget deficit, he said.

Oh I totally agree that the government has been spending on stupid stuff - and getting larger and larger - which is totally against everything the US was founded for - but dont try to pin it on one party - its all around both parties - like I said in another post - Im not democrat - Im also not republican - and I wont ever disagree that the government spends way more money than they should
And in real numbers - the increases in the debt have been caused by the tax cuts and the exploding government contracts with private companies providing the military "troops" and equipment
Think about this - in 2010 (3 years from now) there will be a doubling of the number of retirees in this country - right now its around 19% of the population - in 2010 it will be around 39% due to the baby-boomers retiring {like me :)} and we are going to eat up that social security program like it was chocolate - I guarantee you that within 5 years after that the programs for the retired will be the majority of the debt (and in this case - the deficit which will skyrocket)

forgive me but wouldnt tax receipts go up every year just because of inflation
taxes are a percentage of what we make and spend
so if a gallon of gas skyrockets to ...uhhh 350.00 wouldnt the amount of tax paid on that gallon also go up
and most workers get yearly raises so if they make more money every year that means they also pay more taxes

Tax recepits go up due to increased economic activity
Gas tax money goes up to increased demand - more gas being bought
Workers are not only making more - but more people are working (due to increased economic growth) so MORE people are paying taxes
All thanks to tax cuts

So lets talk about the real issue here - When Bush came into office the budget was as a surplus of 284 billion - it is now? a deficit? So I guess the plan is working - NOT
The expected surplus the way the plan had been laid out starting back in Reagans day was that we would increase the surplus by taxing big business commensurate with what individuals were having to pay - and it was creating a great surplus for the US - estimates put the surplus at $516 billion if Bush had not given the tax cut to businesses - and if you think individual taxpayers got a tax cut you are sadly mistaken unless you are poor enough to take the child credit or are on welfare - cause thats the only American individuals that got a tax cut other than the millionaires who got a decrease in the capital gains tax
Here's the top 5 worst deficits in the US history:
1. 2004 (George W. Bush) $413 billion
2. 2003 (George W. Bush) $378 billion
3. 2005 (George W. Bush) $318 billion
4. 2006 (George W. Bush) $296 billion (projected - not finished computing yet)
5. 1992 (George H. W. Bush) $290 billion
So it looks like there is a trend?

Yea, the deficit is going down
You left out the 9-11 attacks (a $1 trillion hit on the economy) two wars, a series of storms that wrecked the South and helped drive up oil prices
The US economy was heading into recession when Pres Bush came into office, and the tax cuts prevented it

Where in the world you get your news I have no idea - but Id suggest reading some of the non-partisan economic boards available out there - the idea that 9/11 caused any hit on the economy is totally false and the wars expanded the economy - more military contracts etc.
The deficit going down is "nice on paper" - but doesnt mean anything when it is still more than any in history (top 5 as noted above) - its like using statistics to prove something - you can paint anything rose-colored as long as you dont compare it to anything else :)
The storms in the south BTW had nothing whatsoever to do with gas prices - those are set by an international board and a market overseas - the little amount of oil lost in the storms wasnt even a "drop in the bucket"
OPEC lowered their production to drive prices up - and are expected to do it again
Maybe we should take a lesson from the Europeans where all of their countries require automobiles sold to have at least a rating of 45 mpg - sure seems sensible to me???

Tax cuts increase revenues everytime. It worked for JFK, Reagan, and now Pres Bush
I suggest you stop listening to Air America ands NPR
The storms took out 13 refineries and thus the price increase
So you want to be more like Europw where gas goes for about $5/gal due to the high taxes? Libs are whining about $3/gal gas - of course they would be happy to have the same level of taxes here as they do in Europe
