View Full Version : Republicans Getting Played Again by Obama

Obama has exposed the amateur pedigree of his competitors yet again.
Voices inside camp GOP have rumbled that Specter leaving is good for the GOP in x number of ways. I do not have time to go through them all, but I'm sure we're all familiar with them.
Sadly, the Republicans don't have any idea what Obama's true goal in this whole Specter affair is.
Specter backstabbing the GOP is a sexy story, everyone loves tales of betrayal, however it is not the most important aspect of the entire issue.
I do not think Obama cares for Specter at all. Obama wanted to make a deal, plain and simple. He sought out a weak candidate from a blue collar union state whose population favours universal health care. The deal was: I campaign for you, you vote yes for the health care bill, your constituents want it anyway and the rest of the time you can vote any way you want.
The reason why Obama wanted Specter to guarantee his vote on one single issue is interesting and quite a brilliant yet manipulative play.
It is important to remember Obama's plan. His health plan called for the implementation of a system which offers Americans a choice to either stay with your current plan, or sign up for a government plan.
The government plan has no point of service fees, much like the Canadian health system.
It is quite obvious which choice a vast majority of middle America will choose - the plan with no point of service fees.
I'll take it even further, so will many employers big and small.
Why? Because it will be significantly cheaper.
If Obama's plan turns out to be an epic failure - it's possible - one still wouldn't know until 20 or 25 years down the road.
Even if we shave ten years from my estimate, no employer would purposefully choose to pay POS fees for the next ten to fifteen years when they have the option to pay none at all.
Once Obama's plan is implemented there is no going back.
No future government will ever be able to take away a universal health system with no point of service fees.
Being a citizen from one of the countries with no POS fees, I can say the populace would revolt if any political party petitioned to destroy our current system.
Canada's current Prime Minister is a staunch conservative, he supported the Iraq war, sided with Bush on a lot of key issues etc. Even he knows you don't screw with health care.
To tie my whole post back to the GOP getting played again, this isn't about about Specter's selfishness, or about the party leaving him or all that other partisan nonsense.
It is about one Senator's vote, for one time for a plan that can never be undone.
Obama needs Specter to vote one time on one thing that will completely transform the way the federal government administers health care.
Obama will get his health bill passed.
The dems will use the filibuster buster if they have to.
And it will be law.
And it will never be taken away.
Obama has played them like fools and the sad part is, they do not even know it.
Not yet.

Limit...nice post. I know it is nice because none of the repug smear gang has ventured a look at their shit bucket.
You illuminated a factual condition, that of Obama's superior intelligence/gamesmanship, that I, in my ranting and spitting, never pointed out.
The actual conditions surrounding repug ravings against Obama are generated by repugs misinterpreting Obama's actions by giving Obama the limits of their own understandings and machinational gameplays.
In this exercize, repugs so profoundly miss a functional understanding of the man that they profess shock and indignation when they notice that Obama is keeping his campaign promises to the letter.
Their reaction to his honesty, when run through their repug mindset, equals political immaturity...a bumbling threat to their existing order...the DC order, which coincidently, Obama promised to change:)
They are fearful Obama is going to let the cat out of the bag...voters will see, if he keeps this up...maybe they will catch on why we spend millions of dollars for a position which pays only a small fraction of its cost..."Obama is a hateful bastard...an antichrist sent here to expose us all!".
Are you repugs still enjoying the party??? Oh...not as much as the last eight years...? Too bad, it is long past due...your appointment with reality!

as obtuse as obama
bigears doesn't need specter, he's already got his nat'l health plan
aint no stopping it
the obama supporter actually openly claims---there's a good chance the planet-sized program could be an epic failure
with friends like that...
specter switched to save his own skinny little pencil neck
has nothing to do with obama, nor health care
we can't stop obama, we don't want to stop obama, he is 100% responsible for ALL that goes down from here
even if it's epic failure
still, there's much truth in the rather immature post---once the program is in place, it's FOREVER
like social security
very disappointing, low level political thinking, i'm surprised at the childish lack of sophistication
similarly, obama's already got his first supreme---aint no stopping it
with our without the pencil neck
congrats, i guess

Obama has played them like fools and the sad part is, they do not even know it.
The only ones played like fools by Obama are his supporters. Specter has been in the liberal camp from day one. Putting a "D" next to his name changes nothing except who will help fund his next candidacy. However, he was already voting with the Dems so what is the difference.
However, all of you Obamaniacs that believe that Obama created the country in his own image, will do anything you can to make it look like Obama engineered this move as if he is so far ahead of everyone else. You people really need to remove your head from Obama’s rear end and think for yourselves about how the world really works. But if you did, you wouldn’t be liberals.
Sorry for the rant, carry on with your Obama worship session.

his rovian BRAIN, axelrod, goes on MEET THE PRESS to warn that tea is unhealthy
his AG calls us all a nation of cowards
so dependent on his teleprompter he can't put a sentence together without it
goes on 60 minutes and laughs so hard, he's asked if he's losing it
appoints ms, umm, caroline of kennedy, a choicer, to the post at the vatican...
just off the top of my professorial head

As per my commentary on the repug shortfalls, you can't get a clue...but no matter...but you might consider changing to 'need a clue'...just for the sake of accuracy.
I live in Pennsylvania, and I sort of like the notion of getting the specter vote, then electing someone else in 0'10. I'm not sure this dem nest will vote for that asshole even if Obama asks us to.
The man is a snake...which isn't unusual for a repug...but what makes him outstanding on the slime parade, is his routine.
He has seniority, so he heads up senate investigations. If you pay attention to his act, he blusters and blows, threatening 48 flavors of damnation to the miscreants, then suddenly, as quietly as money shifting into an offshore account, the crime morphs into an ethics debate with specter leading the march.
I have seen him do his trick time an again over the years...old unkle specter pulls the palmed quarter from behind the eight years old's ear...a genius.
In penna. the dems own the cities, and the repugs plague the hinterlands...The repugs now hate the guy, and dems recognized spector as a turncoat dem of fourty years ago...and a slime for those fourty years.
I really don't think anyone likes him or believes he represents anyone but himself.
I think specter will go the way of joe lieberman in the next election...and I can't think of better news in this vein...get rid of two shitheels in one swipe.

Apparently you posses the ability to understand your Messiahs actions better than us poor dumb conservatives. Why then don't you explain it to us? What is his plan? How are his actions in line with his plan?
In this exercize, repugs so profoundly miss a functional understanding of the man that they profess shock and indignation when they notice that Obama is keeping his campaign promises to the letter.
Could you list the campaign promises he has kept? From what I can tell, he broke more campaign promises in the first few weeks of his term than he has kept. But are so much smarter than the rest of us, it should not be hard for you to list the promises he has kept. (hint: it will be a short list)

Thanks for the advice. After all, you are so much smarter than me being a Repug as you say. By the way, I am not a Repug, I am a conservative. I would explain the difference too you, but you are smarter than me, so I shouldn't have too.

This exchange, especially by the Obama haters, clearly shows why non-affiliated, independent voters will stay away from Republican candidates. Losing a House seat in a district with 70K+ more R voters than D voters is just one example of the way things are going. Calling Obama silly, juvenile names is ... silly and juvenile.

What I love is how they are all claiming to be conservatives now but not republicans.
I for one love seeing the republican party fall apart.
Its hilarious how some of them think they can fix it by going even more right.
