30 to 60 days for beating a man so badly that he is now brain damaged but the courts believed that he was only hit once and found them not guilty of assault but of not helping Billy Ray.

At the minimum it should be attempted manslaughter.

As if the $9m will ever be paid. It will just be difficult but not impossible, for the guys to live normal lives by having all their assetts in family members names.

This lawsuit (civil BTW not criminal) was kind of ridiculous as what is not mentioned is that two of the men not involved in this civil lawsuit have already paid him millions of dollars as part of a settlement outside of court - so saying that the money will never be seen is kind of misleading since he is already a multi-millionaire with the other settlements

As far as the Klan being involved - I doubt it seriously - this was a lawsuit brought by the SPLC - and had little if anything to do with being black or white - the original trial discovered that he was beaten for fun because he was retarted not because he was black

Beaten for being retarded is worst than being beaten for being black in my opinion. Atleast a physically and mentally fit person could have had a better chance of escape without permanent injury.
