View Full Version : WHY I RANT AGAINST REPUGS

Read this below. I realize it is tedious to the mentally sufficient, but repugs might think it no different than a repug pep rally and actually enjoy what they consider as "winning".

Swine Flu Is Bad Enough, Yet Republicans Always Manage to Make It Worse
By Susie Madrak Monday Apr 27, 2009 10:00am As I often tell myself, there is rarely any situation in which the attentions of the Republican party can't make it even worse. Dave Johnson at Seeing the Forest points out one major problem:
We face a potential swine flu pandemic, and we do not have the people in place in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that we need. Why not? The Republicans are blocking confirmation of Obama’s nominee, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
Why are they blocking this nomination? Because Gov. Sebelius won’t approve Kansas Republican bills to block abortion even if the abortion will save the mother’s life. They say she is “an enemy of the unborn,” because she thinks doctors should be able to save the mother’s life.
So as you worry about this possible flu pandemic, think about why your government is not yet fully up and running to do its part and protect us. As we saw when hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, government-hating Republicans destroyed our ability to respond to emergencies, and instead set up a system where contracts were awarded to cronies who collected the cash but never delivered the services. And now they continue to block our government’s ability to protect us, because they think that a mother’s life is not as important as a fetus.
The Democrats should start a big public relations push to get the Republicans to drop their opposition for the sake of the country.
It might work, but who knows? After all, Republicans always put party above country. Because guess what the Republicans (including "moderate" Susan Collins, helped along by Karl Rove's attacks) stripped out of the stimulus bill? You guessed it: pandemic flu preparedness! (They insisted it had nothing to do with the economy.) From John Nichols in today's The Nation:
When House Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey, the Wisconsin Democrat who has long championed investment in pandemic preparation, included roughly $900 million for that purpose in this year's emergency stimulus bill, he was ridiculed by conservative operatives and congressional Republicans.
Obey and other advocates for the spending argued, correctly, that a pandemic hitting in the midst of an economic downturn could turn a recession into something far worse -- with workers ordered to remain in their homes, workplaces shuttered to avoid the spread of disease, transportation systems grinding to a halt and demand for emergency services and public health interventions skyrocketing. Indeed, they suggested, pandemic preparation was essential to any responsible plan for renewing the U.S. economy.
But former White House political czar Karl Rove and key congressional Republicans -- led by Maine Senator Susan Collins -- attacked the notion that there was a connection between pandemic preparation and economic recovery.
Now, as the World Health Organization says a deadly swine flu outbreak that apparently began in Mexico but has spread to the United States has the potential to develop into a pandemic, Obey's attempt to secure the money seems eerily prescient.
And the partisan attacks on his efforts seem not just creepy, but dangerous.
Go read the article. It's an in-depth look at how scoring political points was more important to the Republicans than repairing the system of government preparedness stripped bare by the last eight years of their careful stewardship.

I was just reading a story on this same thing on another site where a lady republican senator from Maine stated she is against using stimulus money for reasons of pandemic flu outbreaks....how Ironic isnt it?

Yes...that article covered that aspect also. I guess I hate repugs mostly because they're hateful...it doesn't take rocket science to notice theire subhuman characteristics, as they continuously shout out their worst moral enfeeblements for all the world to witness.

You do realize everything you said about the Republicans is wrapped in your own layer of hate....so you hate people that hate, and therefore you're a hater and therefore hate yourself...egad, the philosophical ramifications are just endless.
As for the article, the appointment process is what it is, the article leaves out that there's been two questions that came up regarding Sebilius, first a tax issue / error on her taxes and she had to correct three years of errors and pay $7000. Also she misrepresented campaign contributions and later had to amend her original statement.
You also forget that the democrats had their fair share of blocking Republican appointees in the past...as it's part of the Washington game at the moment.
Should Sebilius be appointed, yeah she should, but to say this delay jeopardizes Americas ability to deal with a Swine Flu pandemic, umm, errrr, so is that why Obama got a memo on the subject and then went to play 5 hours of golf? (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090426/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_obama_golf_4)
It's those small nuances of political spin that I enjoy so much. OMG, SWINE FLU WILL KILL US ALL AND REPUBLICANS ARE TO BLAME...and Obama played golf after he got a memo on the topic because it was so grave and serious.
Democrats are just as hateful as Republicans, which is why I think there should be a clean sweep of all politicians out of Washington and get some fresh blood in there that hasn't learned the lessons of hating people mindlessly.
It's always funny to watch people indoctrinated in their party spinning topics to make someone else look evil when all of Washington has been hit senseless with the evil stick.

In my opinion the Republican Party is in it's last throws of death...They have abandoned conservative policies and values and the conservative base of voters they once represented...Their only supporters now consists of a lessor of two evil voter base.
The GOP is now just another party promoting big government, socialism and a globalist agenda...They have trampled the American dream and the Constitution...They are no better than the Democrat Party they pretend to be at odds with, but in fact share many of the same policies.
The new John and Meghan McCain Centrist Republican Party.....The New DemoPublican Party.

Back on the subject, it doesn't matter whether the lady is confirmed or not.
There are people serving in all the positions in the HHS until new ones are appointed. Do you people really think that the day Obama was sworn in, that all the people Bush appointed there left the building and nobody has been doing their jobs?
Get a grip.

You read the story that started this thread.
That story (from a far left liberal website) stated that because republicans were blocking the confirmation of the Kansas Governor, there wasn't anyone in the DHHS office to deal with the Swine Flu issue.
Your response to that was:
Using human lives is pretty bad.
It's time to stop.
So Moby, you were buying into the notion that this lady not being confirmed was in essence leaving the HHS helpless to deal with the problem. If you did not subscribe to the notion that there was nobody there to deal with the situation, you would not have made such a partisan, idiotic statement.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it pal.

2. the controversy over sibelius is all about her ties to extremist late term abortionist george tiller, plus her apparent misstatements concerning her closeness to the doc, including a donation of $200,000 in 2002 to a pac supporting sibelius for gov

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following is 100% opinion:
Leadership/Politics:
Obama spent the first several weeks of his administration attacking Rush Limbaugh, reducing the post of president to prime spokesperson of one side in some national debate. Such petty partisanship is not wise leadership even in the most comfortable times, let alone in a CRISIS. In times like now, to expend even an ounce of executive energy arguing with the LOSING SIDE is sign certain that leadership doesn't get it, doesn't know its responsibilities, doesn't recognize the difficulties facing it.
After the Tax Day Tea Parties expressed loudly a grassroots, nation-wide resentment and reaction against Obama's massive, totally irresponsible spending and his general attempts, socially, to turn the USA into one giant San Francisco, Obama's Karl Rove, David Axelrod, went on Meet the Press, I think it was, to warn that TEA is "unhealthy."
The AIG bonuses were removed from what was it, TARP? Plan Pelosi? The half trillion dollar omnibust with the 8000 earmarks according to dems? I forget. Doesn't matter. But the bonuses were taken out, then put back in, grandfathered, indeed. You recall the language: something like, no bonuses of a certain size can go to any CEO of any bailout recipient AFTER a certain date---February, 2009, if I recall correctly. Then the admin did some dizzying dance with Dodd which was dreadfully damaging. The media POUNCED on that one, before DROPPING it in a way they'd never do if, say, Newt Gingrich were involved. But we all recall how Dodd said he did it, then he didn't and Geithner did, then, no, neither did but both. Or some such similar nonsense. Were you to possess The Prof's fine EAR for US politics, then you too would have heard distinctly that the AIG BONUSES constituted not a turning point, but more like a last straw. That is, for many Americans inclined to give their exciting new president every opportunity, every doubt's benefit, when we saw billions in bogus bailouts banked out to the very bums and boneheads who bungled it all in the beginning, that was IT, enough was enough, we'd had IT. It is my sincere belief that had the AIG bonuses not gone down, the Tea Parties may still have proceeded, but far less Lipton would have been lapped up.
It all started with so-called Obama's stimulus. So-called because by all accounts the prez had almost nothing to do with it. He let the House write it, the Pelosi Plan is its most apt appellation, Obama's INTRODUCTION to the American people, our first glimpse of the great campaigner's governance, ie, leadership. He won historic! Both Houses, almost SIXTY Senators! A whole WORLD rooting for him. Facing a crisis NO ONE BLAMES HIM FOR. Empowered thereby to have ANYTHING he wants, ANY piece of legislation, whatever size, shape, scope. So, what's he do? He turns it over to the most base political operatives in LOWER parliament. The most stunningly stupid play imaginable. The Prof was sincerely astonished as he watched that go down. The result was the worst of business-as-usual pork, the exact opposite of change anyone can believe in. That was the beginning, less than a month in, the BLOOM was OFF. After Plan Pelosi, Obama no longer looked to most Americans, even his supporters, to be the post-partisan agent of change he promised in his campaign.
He's preempted primetime twice to bore the hell out of us saying nothing new while appearing presidential. Boring trumps inspirational. He doesn't seem to comprehend this. He bumps American Idol and doesn't even sing. He could at least trot out Michelle in a new sleeveless. He's gonna do it again this week, Wednesday night, apparently. Maybe this time when he interrupts Simon he'll do John Denver's, "I'm Sorry (for the way things are in China)."
His DHS Secretary Napolitano released the admin's DOMESTIC ENEMIES list, comprised pretty much of imbibers of TEA.
His AG Holder once called us all a bunch of cowards, but at least he said it to our faces instead of talking behind our backs like the time his boss told Europe we're not Christians.
And in 100 days of false steps and political pratfalls he has made not a SINGLE move to separate himself from Frisco Nance, personification of EXTREMISM in American politics. Americans reject EXTREMISTS of all stripes when it comes time to vote. Obtuse Obama is so AGENDA DRIVEN he's oblivious to all this, how radically changed is his image since Election Day.
I could go on and on, believe me. Notice how his supporters offer no defense for the myriad rookie errors committed by their bigeared kid. See also how they put forth NARY a one positive step, politically, taken by our tin eared new leader, who flies his AF1 inches over the rooftops of still shell shocked Manhattan, panicking the millions there who generally adored him just a few short months ago.
