So I'm reading over the Washington Post Article on Diane Feinstein and her husband:
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/21/senate-husbands-firm-cashes-in-on-crisis/
Let's say we believe her response:

Isn't there a point where a person should just bow out of political office because of the perceived conflict of interest that would constantly be coming up? If her husband has regular government contracts, isn't that just a pandora's box that's constantly going to be opened? Even if there was no wrongdoing, isn't it going to regularly come up as a problem just because of the perceived conflict of interest?

I'm sure she's not the only one, though. Half of DC is one big conflict of interests. And I'm referring to both parties, btw. Each party has it's good people; but many have been corrupted by the system they've built up.

I'm not going to comment one way or the other on how this looks or whether I believe she's guilty of wrongdoing. However, if I were placed in a similar situation, I'm not sure I'd really want all the hassle. There's plenty areas besides politics that a person could help the community, etc, and apparently she's got enough money to do just that...
I guess this is another reason why I think term limits are so damn important. The Washington culture, on both sides, just creates those uncomfortable conflict of interests...some real, some false, but as a voter, does it really make you feel all warm and fuzzy when stuff like this comes up?

Or her husbands company could avoid contracts w/ the gov.........
I am for term limits as well....
I would like more party choices & those parties to be participants in the gov like in the parlimentary systems................

At times I look at both parties and think how they can be divided up even more and give us more options. The Republican / Democrat has so many divisions at the moment you see candidates trying to pander to all of them and does it really satisfy anyone?
