Cho Seung-Hui capered about Virginia Tech for years harrassing women and terrifying faculty. He was on his last year. He wasn't coming back.

I wonder if the community can learn something from such a dreadful outcome.

Is forgiveness important? Many survivors seem to say so. Survivor guilt may hang like a pall over parts of the campus for the year. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder will be everywhere for a while, but appropriate agencies will help.

60,000 gun homicides a year in the United States is very high, and some reports say the violence at home increases when a country ventures out to war.

I hope everybody gets well. That sounds like a terrific school and a terrific community.

The Prayers of so many Canadians are with the families who lost their beloved relations in a senseless way. REGARDING CONTROVERSY ABOUT SHOWING THE KILLER ON VIDEO, the evidence is clear enough that we should see it. It is the closest this situation will get to a courtroom, the court of public opinion. It should always be presented with the same warnings as other controversial news. In Canada, we have this horrible trial about Willy Pickton alleged to have killed 26 people in macabre ways. The TV news networks wisely issues warnings and gives people time to switch or mute the volume, because these are not normal images. Neither are the images of this CHo Ceung-Hui normal images. Run the images and videos as necessary in a free society, but do so with fair warning of disturbing contents that won't be for everybody, especially children or people in the area.
