It took china half a century to figure out if they adopted capitalism they might pull themselves out of poverty.
Meanwhile back in the states we have taken a different approach.
Backwards is a direction also.

Well, they managed to run over twice as many people in one night with tanks, than all the allied troops killed in Iraq in five years - Tiananmen Square 1979.
They also managed to Invade and conquer Mongolia and Tibet; and build 900 missiles just to aim at Taiwan with a two minute flight time.
Oh yeah, there's also the new Aircraft Carrier Killer missile that can do Mach 10, with a 1200 mile range.
Let me see, they're pretty good at censoring the Internet for their people. Ummm ........ helping North Korea maintain the 4th largest army in the world, while they starve their people?
Hmmm - okay, they have great take-out food!
Okay, I give up. What's the correct answer?

I have a couple friends who set up there.
Its interesting as the people let the hard liners remain in power as long as they let the economy improve.
Strange relationship but the old school hardliners are still dangerous.
Things are improving for the people slowly there but they like it so far.
They actually think we are dragging them down with all our borrowing.

Everything I referred to was directed at the people in power - the average citizen is getting very modern and westernized.
The real problem is the ruling elite and the military commanders.

They have achieved state imposed zero population growth.
You must give the devil his due.
No Western nation would even whisper such a suggestion,
even though our planet's biosphere is in peril,
which could determine whether humanity survives or goes extinct.
I wish we could do it through 'educated' choice, but with so many voodoo worshiping religious types i think we are kidding ourselves about that.

It has been a long, long time since we had a huge epidemic killing millions & sooner or later it will most likely happen again as they always have…
The other side of that population is economic growth…… A shortsighted focus- always on just the next quarter……….
