And I've repeatedly read that the intelligence agencies can't find enough people that speak arabic and farsi that pass security checks. Camp Lemonier has an Anti-Terrorism Marine Corps grunt unit manning posts and conducting patrols in Djibouti on a 24 hour basis. They develop and maintain relationships with villages all throughout the country, and the Navy Seabees and the Ntnl Guard conduct humanitarian missions throughout the Horn of Africa. They also have intel and counter-intel units very active in the area.
Not many people know this base even exists, but to my understanding it is a pretty big operation of all branches whose reach extends throughout the region.
