"“I'm not naive. This goal will not be reached quickly –- perhaps not in my lifetime. It will take patience and persistence,” he told an adoring crowd that waved miniature American and Czech flags. “But now we, too, must ignore the voices who tell us that the world cannot change. We have to insist, "Yes, we can."

This is one dumb sumbitch.

Yeah, the crowds were screaming - he sounded so eloquent ...

... then North Korea fired their missile, the UN had an emergency three hour meeting of the Security Council; and then nothing happened.

How the hell does he expect to rid the world of nuclear weapons, when he can't even get a worthless UN resolution passed against North Korea, for violating a previous resolution, which was imposed because of violating a further previous resolution, which was imposed because of breaking an agreement with Bill Clinton's secretary of state ... after finding they were breaking a previous agreement?

But the people loved that speech ....... and who knows if they even bother to watch the nightly news.

Ridding the world of nukes used to mean buying a few from the Russians.

Nothing, it just sounds good. So you know its full of shit because all he does is come up with feel good headlines with nothing to back it.

Ridding the world of Nuclear weapons (that we invented), is about as likely to occur as winning the war on terror and drugs.:lmao2:

What a terrible though a world free of nukes.

If that happened what would we do. God forgive us for thinking that not having weapons of mass destruction around is a good thing. Will it happen? No but we can get closer.

Hey lets promise that we will only destroy the world 3 times over rather then 50 times over sounds like a good start to me.

BTW, Barry can promise anything else for that matter, that he immediately qualifies afterwards by saying it won't happen in his lifetime, though. But he'll do a little something for a photo-op and a crowd-rousing speech.

"Imagine if all guns grew flowers."

"I promise you Four-minute Abs and a Two-minute Egg .... but not in my lifetime."

"Yes we can! ... Yes we can! ... Yes we can!"

Yeah, all the right wing assholes who think they know it all even when everything in the Universe proves them to be fools,

They know all about arrogance, from the inside & out.

Butt assholes aside,

While i would hope all nuclear powers would vastly reduce their wildly excess destructive capabilities,

i do question the complete elimination of nukes.

We have no idea what we may or may not encounter in the future & we should virtually always try to keep our options reasonably diverse.

I know everyone wants to make the idea of Aliens a joke,
but i am not so convinced. Too many reports from credible sources for my taste. & even if we have never throughout the history of human kind ever encountered Extraterrestrials, there is nothing to say we won't tomorrow or ten years from now.
Everything has some angle,
whether we [& our planet] would or would not fall into theirs i don't know,
but that is not inconceivable.

Always play it a little bit loose & limber,
keep your options open.

Somehow, I think he is reaching for the unattainable and is telling people what he thinks they want to hear.

Seeing as I have worked in the public all my life, I have seen a lot of arrogant people. Many of which don't have a pot to piss in and don't have reason to be arrogant.

However, seeing the looks on his face from time to time, or how his chin is uplifted to give off that holier than thou look, while his eyes are turned upward as tho' he's looking above the people, rather than at them, leaves me feeling like he believes he is all that. Just because he happened to become president, doesn't make him God. Others may perceive him to be that, but, alas, he still hasn't walked on water, nor is he going to.

And I've been questioning just what sort of change he is going to make. Change we will like, or one that we will run from?

That's the main problem with Obama - he always tells people what he thinks they want to hear. But because of that, you can never be sure what he actually plans to do.

America elected an infomercial motivational speaker - with latent megalomaniac tendencies.

Like a spammer - he only appeals to the easily led; and knows he'll eventually get as many as needed to make it worthwhile.

So... what's wrong with the progression towards a Nuclear Free world? Somebody tell me what exactly is wrong with this movement?:talktothehand:

Expectations ran high in the run-up to the Reykjavik summit of October 1986. To the horror of some Reagan (http://www.armscontrol.org/print/1615)advisers, the two leaders privately spoke of the elimination of all nuclear weapons. In the end, however, the meeting defined more modest areas of agreement and remaining problems for a new arms control regime. Although the two sides agreed in principle to the “zero-option” for no intermediate nuclear forces in Europe and to a halving of strategic offensive arms, the meeting deadlocked over the issue of strategic defenses and the proper interpretation of the ABM Treaty.:dunno:

You made up your minds long before he ever took office and now your just looking for anything that supports your already made up minds.

And you thought the Dow took the worst hit since Obama was elected. Which tells me you know nothing about politics or forming a personal opinion on any politician.

Politicians have to tell you what you want to hear, just to get elected.

And Obama actually was elected, legitimately by a majority of US voters, for a change.

but beyond that I think Obama gives a damn about the USA,

Bush, Cheney & the neonuts never did. They only cared about the crooked, rich & privileged.
Bush & Cheney are STILL arrogant enough to think everything & anything they did was correct, EVEN when the entire globe has come crashing down around their heads.

Apparently Obama does! :lmao2:
