I think it would be fairly ridiculous, but then Edwards seems to be getting a pass. Isn't that just a little bit gutless for a guy that wants to be President?

Fox may lean a bit right, but CNN leans far left.

What I think...because this obsene amount of $$$ is mostly going to the networks for political ads, that instead of picking and choosing a network's honesty and reliability, the candidated should forget the adds altogether, and get all their FACE TIME in cheaply announced debates...letting the networks scramble to get a plce to televise the NEWS...FOR NOTHING...NO $$$!

Fuck those networks...let them all die the death they deserve...stop cutting down trees and do thir job of reporting news, investigating news...and forget giving us their opinions...the truth of the matter is that people choose that network that most closely matches thier level of insanity, and shun anything opposing...so if they went back to reporting, they would get a bigger readership, and make their money on advertizers...not time.

Selling network time, is like supermarkets selling shelf space...the market is supposed to sell items...not shelf space...the network is supposed to broadcast..not sell time....and get paid by advertizers.

It's silly to say cnn leans to the left.

But if Romney wants to pass on CNN that's okay with me.

I respect people that will go do interviews, debates, etc, on any ground. If a man believes in what he stands for and eloquently debates his points, even if I disagree with him, I'll respect him.

It's absurd to me that politicians would only choose friendly ground to debate issues...to me it seems like their convictions only have strength when they have a slobbery media behind them.

They should make sure that the interview, debate, whatever goes on the air unedited, other than that, they shouldn't fear anyone. Democrats that avoid Fox and Republicans that avoid CNN, whatever, they don't have the stuff in my books to be President.

how can we trust these people to stand up to the big corporations and lobbyists and the like of Ahmadinejad if they cant handle Shepard Smith

on the flip side I agree with bill to call CNN far left is nuts they play it pretty straight as I watch the news on any channel I try and keep watch on who's seems to be leaning right or left the only one I have trouble figuring out is Lou Dobbs

and I would also like to point out how when ever Bush appears anywhere they make sure everybody attending is a friendly

CNN, for all it's faults, is at least a news channel.

Some of the CNN reporters and journalists have been well known and respected names in news for many years.

FOX is an opinion channel. Maybe they have some actual reporters and journalists there, but offhand, I couldn't name one.

But we can all name the FOX opinion talking heads.

Comparing FOX to CNN - well, you really have to stretch the definition of news and journalism to try to do it.

If political candidates want to decline to participate in any network created event, no matter what channel or publication runs it, that's fine by me.

Anybody who trusts any mainstream media borders on the mentally challenged, in my view.

My question is thiis: has Chris Wallace removed Bill Clinton's shoe from his butt after Clinton Mike Wallaced his ass.

The wife occassionally likes to watch Oprah, so, at some point I ended up watching Bill O'Reilly on Opey-dope.

I remember that he was asked to name a good journalist, in some discussion about the "liberal media" and how he claimed it wasn't reporting the good news on Iraq.

The person he named was Brian Williams, who is NBC's talking head, if I remember correctly.

I remember this, because I thought at the time that it was interesting that he didn't name a journalist at FOX.

Who are the journalists at FOX? Anybody know?

(I guess we're still waiting for that good news from Iraq. Oh right, 5 rugs for five dollars. "Everybody talks about the bombings, but nobody talks about the savings.")

I've got the perfect proof that the media is far from left leaning. How many people are aware that Nuetered Newt Gingrich, (you know, the guy Clinton chased from the speakership with his tail between his legs) was part of the planning for the Iraq war( Rumsfeld's invite) given the fact that this is stated in the best selling book " Cobra 2"? If the media was leftist like you griping GOP say, then this would have been front page news a long time ago. Oh, by the way. O'reilley didn't name anyone from FOX because he knew he was expected to, he was playing a game, duuuuuuuuuuuh.

So who's your favorite FOX journalist?

That kinda raises the question of wether talking heads should ever be thought of as journalists.

I guess that depends on wether they used to be journalists, before they became a talking head.

Bill - I would tend to disagree with anyone calling them journalists or reporters - they are not - and far from it. They have no knowledge of the basics of journalism or reporting - they are as you put it - talking heads and well paid as well as well connected to politics talking heads.
I would post the entire list but I think I have before, of the marital and family relationships of all of the major news organizations' (CNN, FOX and NBC as well as ABC and CBS) talking heads and anchors ranging from the guy that was calling the presidential election returns for Fox(John Ellis) being Bush's cousin to one of the leading CNN analysts( Howard Kurtz - host of Reliable Sources) being the president of Fourth Estate Strategies and a GOP campaign consultant and then we go over to NBC's Cambell Brown being married to the Former Coalition Provisional Authority spokesman as well as his being a contributor to Fox, his brother is the Head of AIPAC in Jersuleam and his sister is the opinion editor for the Jerusuleam Post.
Hell even Tucker Carlsons' dad is vice chairman of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (big hidden neocon org) and member of the Scooter Libby Defense Fund Trust
Lets see - Bob Schieffer over at CBS News - his brother is the ambassador to Japan and was the owner of the Texas Rangers when he let Bush make a few million on the side from a 700k investment as a partner
And of course Andrea Mitchell at NBC News - well I guess her hubby is pretty well known - Alan Greenspan

So - how do you think these people got into the news biz? :)

Anyone who has a jounalism degree is a journalist as far as I'm concerned. Now, what they do with it afterwards is thier choice. I don't watch FOX enough to have a " favorite" journalist. But going by FOX News Sunday, Britt Hume is the biggest jerk/journalist out there, if that tells you anything. And Chris Wallace hasn't got rid of his smartelec smirk ever since Clinton Mike Wallaced his sorry butt.
