You'll see more of this over time.
The Saudi's are scared to death of the Shia Mullah's in Tehran and, up until now, they felt secure under our umbrella of protection.
However, since we've so obviously been out maneuvered and defeated in Iraq, to the point that we're willing to compromise with Iran in order to achieve our latest standard of "victory" in Iraq (ie: not lose), the Saudi's can see the handwriting on the wall. We're leaving the Middle East and doing it soon. No matter how it'll be spun, we've been defeated and are being run out of the region. To the Saudi's, that means they've lost their cover and, if the royal family wishes to remain in power, they've got to begin distancing themselves from us and making nice with Tehran, the new supreme power.
Actually, they're just negotiating with the crocodile, hoping it will eat them last.
Yeah, that was pretty interesting.
The Sauds have lost a lot from this war.
They've made some nice profits tho, what with the increases and future increases in the price of oil.

Yeah, in spite of a promise I seem to remember them making right after our invasion of Afghanistan to do their part by keeping fuel prices low for the duration of the War on Terror.
I guess they forgot.;)
