Now the White House and Gregg are pointing fingers at each other.

What a dumb ass idea from the start.

Didn't the idiots at Camp Obambi know this guys politics?

Now Gregg is saying the Obambi Administration appraoched him for the post .. but Obambi is saying it was the other way around.

Gregg has been a leading proponent of under-sounting blacks and latinos in the census .. so to hedge their bet, the Obambi Administration wanted to remove the census from Gregg's authority had he taken the post. But republicans are saying that if Obambi didn't trust him with the census, why appoint him .. which I wholeheartedly agree with.

Gregg would have also been overseer of affirmative action programs that have Commerce over-sight .. even though he doesn't agree with affirmative action .. so why in the fuck would Obambi, the so-called black president, appoint someone like Gregg?

Another embarrassment for this ridiculous "bipartisan" administration.

I'm interested in more details as to why Gregg felt he wasn't comfortable with Obambi's policy changes. Gregg seems to suggest he wouldn't have the authority and oversight that his predecessor had. They knew this man's politics, I think they wanted a "yes man". The back story is will be more interesting.

Obambi chose Gregg, now that the man backed out BO is out to fool the masses with double talk. There's a reason why the MSM said Gregg was Obambi's pick. If the 2 didn't agree on issues then why would he choose the man?

It became clear to me that it would be very difficult to serve in this Cabinet or any Cabinet for that matter and be part of the team and not be 100 percent a part of the team ... This was simply a bridge too far for me. The president asked me to do it; I said yes. That was my mistake, not his.

Obambi continues to make partisan accusations which will backfire on him. Sooner or later Reps are going to fire back and its going to cause problems. BO knows his party was part of the problem yet he continues to suggest DC should embrace what works. Like what? Submit to wreckless spending and plutocrat ideology.

put aside stale ideology and petty partisanship, and embrace what works."

President Barack Obama nominated Republican Sen. Judd Gregg to be Commerce secretary on Tuesday, a bipartisan gesture that the Democratic president stressed was necessary with the economy in a virtual free fall.

"Clearly, Judd and I don't agree on every issue — most notably who should have won the election," Obama said in the White House's grand foyer with Gregg and Vice President Joe Biden at his side. "But we agree on the urgent need to get American businesses and families back on their feet ... And we know the only way to solve the great challenges of our time is to put aside stale ideology and petty partisanship, and embrace what works."

Gregg, in turn, praised Obama's $800 billion-plus proposal to stabilize the economic slide and pull the country out of recession as an "extraordinarily bold, aggressive, effective and comprehensive plan

Gregg is a hard-core right-wing conservative who should have NEVER been considered for Commerce .. a department he wanted to eliminate just a few short years ago.

Obambi is a weak-kneed centrist .. as all centrists are .. but plutocrats own and operate BOTH political parties. There are no clean hands between either of them.

Judd Gregg wanted to abolish the department of commerce, I can't imagine how Obambi missed that! So much for vetting the man.

Moments ago, President Obama nominated Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH) to head the Department of Commerce. CQ notes that Gregg has worked in the Senate “to trim the department’s budget as head of the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations Subcommittee.” In fact, in 1995, Gregg “voted in favor of abolishing the agency”:

Gregg’s 1995 votes were cast for the fiscal 1996 budget resolution, a nonbinding blueprint that outlined the GOP’s fiscal priorities after Republicans won full control of Congress for the first time in 40 years.

See the roll call vote here. Gregg also opposed President Clinton’s efforts to increase funding for the Department to run the 2000 census.
