I expect the sheeple to line up behind the Exhalted One on this one , frankly I don't see how this is going to make us safer.

Good Is Bad, Up Is Down, Black Is White, War Is Peace, Tax Evasion Is a Glitch... America Is Safer With Gitmo Closed

The Exalted One spaketh (http://www.denverpost.com/nationworld/ci_11609106) this morn on Day 15 of the First Year of AB (http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/08/spike-lee-you-can-divide-history-bb.html):

President Barack Obama says his decision to close the Guantanamo prison "will make us safer" and ensure that the government is upholding legal guarantees under the U.S. justice system.

In an interview aired Monday on NBC's "Today" show, Obama says his decision to close the military prison at the U.S. naval base in Cuba was driven by his attempts to balance "what's going to keep the American people safe" and constitutionally guaranteed rights for those imprisoned. And, it was good.

Of course it will make America safer. Heck, only 61 of the prisoners (http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/01/pentagon-61-released-gitmo-detainees.html)returned to a life of terror.

Former Gitmo detainee Abdallah Salih al-Ajmi recently exploded in Iraq.

Abdallah Salih al-Ajmi was released from Gitmo in November 2005.
The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/07/AR2008050703456.html?) reported that Ajmi left a lengthy martyrdom audio recording before his death. Ajmi implored people to take part in suicide bombings and to attack Americans. He blew himself up in Mosul in the summer of 2008 and was able to take a few Iraqis with him.

Dear Leader also wants to give "constitutionally guaranteed rights" to those foreign jihadists captured in Afghanistan or Somalia or Iraq.
It's in the US Constitution (http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution.html).

If the detainees should meet with an unfortunate accident after being released, but before making it back home, that would really make us safer.

Obama is a neocon stooge telling lies. Closing the Guantanamo prison "will make us safer" that's as foolish as saying the War on Terror is a bad phrase that makes the terrorists mad at us. Closing Gitmo and changing a phrase will not deter terrorist recruitment. Stupid shit from the inexpereinced potus slash tabula rasa!

Closing GITMO my ass. Sure he is, it is gonna take a whole year to do it. Now why do you suppose that is?

If he really, really wanted to close it he has the most efficient moving company at his disposal that ever existed. The U.S. Military.

Are you gonna tell me that the U.S.Military couldn't have everyone in GITMO out of there and relocated within a month or less if they really, really wanted them moved out.

I think he's hoping something will happen in the next year that will allow him to release all the detainees or justify keeping GITMO open under some other pretext.

I don't believe anything that comes out of this guys mouth.
