Another upstanding Republican,
at least when he's not on his knees or bending over.

Ex-Senator Craig accepts sex sting guilty plea
Thu Jan 8, 2009 12:08pm EST
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Former Sen. Larry Craig has ended his effort to void the guilty plea he made following his 2007 arrest in a men's toilet sex-sting operation, his lawyer said on Thursday.

The Minnesota courts have denied the Idaho Republican's appeals asking that he be allowed to withdraw his disorderly conduct guilty plea, which was processed by mail much like a traffic ticket.

Another appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court would have been fruitless, because the case did not raise significant or novel issues, Craig's attorney Thomas Kelly said.

The three-term Republican's term ended this week, and he has returned to Idaho, Kelly said.

Craig was arrested at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on June 11, 2007, by an undercover police officer who said the lawmaker peeked at him repeatedly through a crack in a stall door, sat down in the stall next to him and used hand and foot signals to indicate he was soliciting sex.

Craig, 63 and married, denied he was trolling for sex or was gay. Part of his explanation, which became frequent fodder for comedians, was that

he was [just] a big man who needed to

spread his legs

while sitting on the toilet.[LOL]http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE5075L720090108

Remember he's not gay, he's not a pervert,
he's just another Republican. lol

He seems to spread his legs a lot,
especially in the company of men.

I guess that is why Right wing nuts love him so.

The left is usually quick to the defense of the gay community, especialy a gay politician.

The right has condemned Craig's disgusting public display of perversion, but instead of defending him, the left has joined them.

What collapsed the global economy my poor gullible friend

were the ridiculous financial schemes of Wall Street.

In 2003 the US mortgage market was saturated.

Shit flowing downhill: It was only the Wall Street schemers who were so desperate to 'do' something with the glut of global money that drove sub-prime lending, & super inflating housing prices along with it.

Financial Alchemy: It was the Wall Street ratings agencies that took what they thought were triple B rated mortgages & scrambled them up in bundles & ridiculously believed they had turned all that garbage into triple A bonds [CDOs etc.].

Crooks fooled by other Crooks: What the irresponsible Wall Street fools didn't realize was that the 3rd party mortgage originators were flat out lying, creating impossible lending terms.
The ratings agencies may have known, but they were making too much money lying.

Amplification of Disaster: This toxic paper still smelled so bad that just to get people to buy it they had to provide a crude form of insurance called credit default swaps.
But because these were issued to anyone who wanted to buy this flimsy insurance & not just the actual bond purchasers it ballooned the effects whenever the underlying bonds went into any kind of default.

Tidal Wave that should have been expected: So what would have been a minor shock, when all this sub-prime paper started inevitably collapsing,
turned into a tsunami that blew away all the wildly over leveraged, multi-billion dollar investment banking houses.

And THAT is what gets us to where we are today,
and not your silly moronic propaganda.

They need to take a portion of the blame for the Freddie and Fannie issues but that's a small portion of what took place.

The DOJ, you know the one that was politicized, blocking states from auditing financial institutions after Bush appointed OCC leaders lead to the biggest issues.

The sub-prime mortgage issue is estimated at $1 Trillion. The credit default swaps on that money is estimated at some where between $40 Trillion and $65 Trillion.

Look a little deeper and you'll find the truth. Of course you won't hear any of it on Clear Channel.

These men might have been a very strong factor in the losses obtained with Fannie and Freddie and I would like to see them tossed out of power but that didn't happen. I've never claimed that they weren't a major factor in the loss of $1 Trillion in America's banking industry.

You have to stop down playing the credit default swap market since it's the real culprit of the current economic crisis.

What larger, $1 Trillion or $40 Trillion (that's the lowest estimate I've seen)?

Remember the administration was touting the great gains in home ownership for the 2004 election and later in 2005 while they had the DOJ (the polarized DOJ) blocking attempts to audit these organizations.

Don't forget that if Bush wasn't elected that the OCC would have still been auditing financial organizations in 2003.

If McCain had been elected in 2000, this would have never happened. Mac is a asskicker not a limp dish rag like Bush.
