It's too bad that Obama cannot communicate with conservatives in the way that Georgie did. Maybe he could endear himself to some of the righties on this board if only he would turn a phrase in the way that Bush could. :lmao2:
"Do you have blacks, too?" "to Brazilian President Fernando Cardoso, Washington, D.C., Nov. 8, 2001
President George W. Bush will leave behind a legacy of Bushisms, the label stamped on the commander in chief's original speaking style. Some of the president's more notable malaprops and mangled statements:
___
_ "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully." _ September 2000, explaining his energy policies at an event in Michigan.
_ "Rarely is the question asked, is our children learning?" _ January 2000, during a campaign event in South Carolina.

_ "There's no doubt in my mind, not one doubt in my mind, that we will fail." _ Oct. 4, 2001, in Washington. Bush was remarking on a back-to-work plan after the terrorist attacks.
_ "It would be a mistake for the United States Senate to allow any kind of human cloning to come out of that chamber." _ April 10, 2002, at the White House, as Bush urged Senate passage of a broad ban on cloning.
_ "I want to thank the dozens of welfare-to-work stories, the actual examples of people who made the firm and solemn commitment to work hard to embetter themselves." _ April 18, 2002, at the White House.

_ "There's an old saying in Tennessee _ I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee _ that says, fool me once, shame on _ shame on you. Fool me _ you can't get fooled again." _ Sept. 17, 2002, in Nashville, Tenn.
_ "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." _ Aug. 5, 2004, at the signing ceremony for a defense spending bill.
_ "Too many good docs are getting out of business. Too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country." _ Sept. 6, 2004, at a rally in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
_ "Our most abundant energy source is coal. We have enough coal to last for 250 years, yet coal also prevents an environmental challenge." _ April 20, 2005, in Washington.
_ "We look forward to hearing your vision, so we can more better do our job." _ Sept. 20, 2005, in Gulfport, Miss.
_ "I can't wait to join you in the joy of welcoming neighbors back into neighborhoods, and small businesses up and running, and cutting those ribbons that somebody is creating new jobs." _ Sept. 5, 2005, when Bush met with residents of Poplarville, Miss., in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
_ "It was not always a given that the United States and America would have a close relationship. After all, 60 years we were at war 60 years ago we were at war." _ June 29, 2006, at the White House, where Bush met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
_ "Make no mistake about it, I understand how tough it is, sir. I talk to families who die." _ Dec. 7, 2006, in a joint appearance with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Good bye and good riddance! Saying "get over it" is a little saying that to Katrina victims who see a foundation where their house once stood. We will eventually get over the mess that he left this country in, but it will take a while.

It will take 2 to 6 years to repair the damage. It may take generations to learn from our mistakes. I bet you're still going to listen to Beck when he goes on Fox aren't you?

Oh for gawds sake. Give it a rest. GW did little that I approve of but he did
not cause the hurricane(s), he did not cause the levies to fail which actually
was the reason for all the flooding and perhaps we should be looking at those
at the top of the LA government/chocolate city and all, and ask "why did you
build all those casinos instead of fortifying the levies"?
Oh, but then, I forgot, Pubs and especially Bush, are responsible for everything
bad from the first mass extinction to AIDS, which reminds me of how friggin
much money has been sent to Africa in his administration when help is needed right here by American citizens. Citizen being the key word here.
Actually I loathe his friggin guts for not sealing our borders. That aside,

But they will be blaming him for years and years which some of it will be

bungling of BO.
Gawd....they will have to do some real reaching to cover for BO.
That said,
I sincerely hope that I am wrong and that BO makes a good prez...Im not
holding my breath for that one though, not by a long shot. It would however
be good for us all if he did surprise us....come on, Barry, Barack, B whatever,

Id like to ask the Katrina "victims"(?) why the hell were their cars left sitting in
their driveways instead of on the road headed north ahead of the hurricane.
No need to answer....I think we all know why. They were waiting for someone
to do it for them. Also, guess no one knew how to drive a school bus. What

Bush was no conservative. An old time Pub would have insisted that free
trade be equal on both sides, secured our border, kept business in this country
and people working, allowed immigration from anywhere only when it was in the
best interest of this country. Bush encouraged exactly the opposite.
And I dont have a problem wringing Bush out when he deserves it, which is
most of the time as he cant do anything I like anymore but friggin leave

I have heard liberals in many different threads bitching about George W Bush not doing enough, fast enough for the victims of the New Orleans, Katrina disaster. People actually went as far as claiming it was because many of the victims were negroes. White or black, don't these people have any responsibility for preparing, planning ahead and taking care of themselves?
They live in a hurricaine disaster zone. High wind and flooding is an absolute eventually. They should have insurance. If insurance cannot be obtained in these high risk areas they should prepare by saving money for something that is almost certain to happen. If they can't afford it they should sell out and move to where they can afford it. It is not the responsibility of the tax payers to cover for these people's bad decisions. Living in a disaster zone, knowing someday you will lose everything you own but staying because you expect the government to take taxpayer money and bail you out is being an inconsiderate asshole. I don't mind helping someone out who got in trouble by no fault of their own but I don't like paying for other peoples mistakes and bad decisions. No President or federal agency is at fault for this. If any government has shown neglect, it would have to be local government in the states and city and county where a disaster takes place seeing as how they are there and know of the local situations and intricacies. This Hurricaine was tracked for a week and landfall was known well in advance. Many of the people who stayed behind were criminals and did so for the sole purpose of looting. I feel absolutely no responsibility for these so called victims and am angry about my tax dollars that were wasted there. If anything, Bush did too much, mainly because of political pressure and political correctness.
I have said exactly why I don't think Bush or anybody but the so-called victims are to blame. If someone would like to tell me why they think Bush is responsible, I would love to hear it....Let's get this settled once and for all.
