Wild video - wonderful technology.

The Lockheed Martin's Multiple Kill Vehicle will be the first anti-ballistic missile system designed to search and destroy multiple warheads and countermeasures using a single launcher. First, the MKV-L will fly to encounter the cloud of multiple warheads and decoys being deployed by the enemy missile. Then, instead of exploding, the MKV will maneuver through the threats launching several kill vehicles, each targeted at the different objects on the air, both real dangers and dummies set to deceive missile defenses.

Yeah, it's awesome. I posted on it last summer.

Up to 10 targets with one interceptor.

That means our missiles in Alaska and California will soon be able to defend against up to 220 incoming targets. And Europe will be able to defend against 100 - once the testing is complete.

Since I'm not afraid of being attacked, that part doesn't interest me.

It's the space industry applications and the control systems that future humans will be thankful for.

Probably not americans. They aren't smart enough to understand the implications, and they let the corporations bleed the american economy and infrastucture to death.

This weapon will prove more effective than the patriot system, God knows what the contract will cost. This will be an effective defense mechanism in the ME.

Well, it's not really in the same class of weapons as the patriot. It's a space weapon.

One thing is sure, the corporations will make a mint with this baby.

It's a destabilizer, no question about it.

I wonder how many of it's critical components are made in china or other countries? The US doesn't have that kind of manufacturing capability any more. Large portions of our defense manufacturing are contracted out of the country, especially the electronics and chips and all-important software.

Actually, it's what they used to call a "pop-up" back in the 80s. Not space "based".

The key is the software - being able to differentiate targets. It would have been tested in this latest test, last week. But the target missile failed to deploy the decoy. Althought the kill vehicle launched from California did intercept and destroy the target warhead, launched from Alaska.

I'm more worried about a "scud in a bucket" (Google it).

I hope Obama doesn't kill the program fror adapting PAC3s to be air-launched from F-22s. F-22s, F-15s or F-16s armed with PAC 3s flying continual CAPs along our coastlines would be the only defense against such an attack, at this time.

Made in the USA is no longer in vogue with the defense industry. That's for sure when it comes to chips and circuit boards.
