I'm kind of surprised how little media coverage this got before the election. In case you don't know what Proposition 8 is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_8_(2008)
I don't think this is a huge issue, but I do support the right of Gays to get married, if they want to be as miserable as the rest of us, then I don't have a problem with it. (Am I showing my more liberal side here?)
The thing that I find interesting though is just how quietly this was handled by the media outlets...its only now that it's done with do we start hearing news stories about it. I have my own take on it, mainly that the media learned from the last election that this was a hot button kind of non-issue that seems to resonate with a lot of people and they didn't want it to cloud more pressing issues.

no no no, marriage is a sacred institution as defined by a man and a women. I mean what next, people marrying chairs, people marrying themselves. what kind of world we live in if a chair could get healthcare coverage.
I mean seriously, gay people should stop choosing to be gay and get on the heterosexual train. They are sinners in the eyes of God and Jesus Christ, and if they don't repent, they are going to burn in hell. I'm sure the devil has special torture just for gay people. Beacause the real purpose of marriage is to procreate, so in fact, we should make sterile men and women unable to marry too. Because they can't have kids. And the only reason people should have sex is to make kids. So that's it, we'll impose a new law on people, women have to track their menstrual cycle and married pepole can only have sex during the 5 days she is ovulating. Once the eggs dry up, that's it, no more sex for her. Man I can't wait till I'm in charge...

This is the big government world we live in. 99% of America just voted against freedom on Tuesday, things like this will become more and more common as we move toward the police state.

A conservative is going to come along and go, "Finally Harry is making sense!" :lmao2:
I was aware of the vote in Cali but honestly I didn't realize that so many similar propositions were on the ballot in so many states. Honestly, it's a non-issue for me. If it was on a ballot I'd vote for it but I wouldn't go out of my way to vote on the issue.
I've never heard a good reason for not supporting though. Marriage has changed drastically though the years anyway so I don't buy into the traditional meaning approach.
People that are married tend to live longer, need less health care and are less of a burden on society then others so allowing gay marriage would save tax payers money.
I think it comes down to hate. HD laughs about it so it must be some sort of odd hate and most people that are against it seem to have that emotional response that comes from hate and programming.

You know its funny, really only the christian based religions, and judaism are vehemently against homosexuals. Throughout history prior to these insane religions, homosexuality was quite accepted. It was even encouraged in the Greek military. Figuring if you truly loved the soldier next to you, you woudl fight harder for him than you would otherwise.

This was disgraceful, all adults should be able to marry who they choose.
This is the 21st century, we don't have time for medieval morality debates.

It's another portion of a divided nation. It's us vs. them and "them" can be anyone that's even slightly different then us.

Look if the gays really wanted to marry then they should of put incentives for straight men to be able to marry more than one woman because if your already destorying thousands of years of tradition then u mine as well add more people to your cause.
i was surprised at the outcome but maybe faggots should take the hint that they shouldnt be able to get married

I'm not exactly opposed to polygamy as long as everyone is a consenting adult and know what they're getting into. What? I'm just saying. :lmao2:

Personally I figure if somebody wants to get married they can. Let them have the same responsibilities, benefits, and misery as heterosexual people.:hammer:
Over and above that though:
- It is still a basic human rights issue, and the majority should not be allowed to overrule a minority.
- Why the F@@k was the various churches allowed to run ads. Whatever happened to no politicing from the pulpit, seperation of church & state.

yeah because us white people have it so hard in this society...please, the asian girls love us more than their own kind, and we have most of the money. That's two reasons right there I can think of why I can't complain...

Well we just lost our seat of power that weve held for over 200 years, and i think asian girls just like small things in general so im sure your quite at home with them, and minority votes is what baned gay marriage, and havent u heard we r about to redistribute wealth around town and seeing how u said we have the money i wonder where its going to go
