The past 2 days all you can here on Fox News is how the new terror threat is going to help the GOP. It just amazing me that Dubya can win election on fear and then we find out there was no threat and now it seems he's using terror again.
Do we plan to spend the rest of our lives supporting those that are really terrorizing us?

funny I was just thinking the same exact thing this morning, the real war against using "terror" should be fought against the people currently in power in the US... they are the ones using terror to scare the hell outta people to get their way :(
does anybody in America remember the boy who cried wolf? we were at "red" alert status which is the highest level we have and nothing happened anywhere... what color should we think about when something actually happens?

Has anyone considered that the "enemy" likes this current political situation? Washington is run right now by cowboy politics (shoot them all and let god sort them out), where the gun is mighter than the word and the only negotiation is outright demands and meaningless deadline. The Terrorist types love this stuff, because they know they can get amazingly large knee jerk reactions from this president and congress, so for the next 2 years plus, they know they can fuck with the US and they will keep getting reactions.
Put a democratic president in, and the results to start with would be similar, but I think you would see a move towards a more defensive rather than offensive situation, with troops leaving Afghanistan and Iraq to be replaced with either complete UN (Afghan is getting there) or more of less left to fester (Iraq).
The US military is stretched so thin now that countries like North Korea and Iran know they can thumb their noses at the US with impunity, because there is little or no ability to take military action.
The terrorists want it that way... but the american public is smart enough to see through that (yeah right!).
Do we plan to spend the rest of our lives supporting those that are really terrorizing us?The rest of our lives may not be that long.

Good to see you hear Alex

I forget this is a new board and some of the most obvious issues have not been addressed. I'm sure at least Bin Laden likes this President.
1. Dubya gave in to Bin Laden's demands back in 2003 when he pulled the troops from Saudi Arabia.
2. He started a war in the one extremist country that appears to have had nothing to do with any terror attacks on the USA ever. (Most terrorists were from Saudi Arabia with representatives from Egypt, UAE and Lebanon.)
3. He started his Presidency creating the access of Evil to get people scared.
4. He removed the force that was put in place to keep Iran quiet and now Ahmadinejad is rising to be the strongest force in the ME.
5. He allowed the creation of the Terror Alert. Does anyone know what do differently when the status goes from Yellow to Orange.? Are we just supposed to be more scared?
6. He has helped increase the price of oil almost 300% providing Iran and Bin Laden's country with huge windfalls of money.
7. Of course admitting that he never had an exit strategy for Iraq showing the world that he is just a fighting cowboy, refusing to open communications with countries making noise and the deficit spending are all weakening this country more then any outside force could ever do.
Of course the issues that you mentioned above and the fact that Bin Laden even campaigned for Dubya right before the last election. When a terrorist campaigns for you and people still vote for you then something is wrong.
My point is... there will be nothing left for anyone to fight over one day soon.
If humanity is incapable of compromising with itself, Mother Nature will bring in a whole new terror of her own.

you low down dirty liberal tree hugger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tell people all the time that our planet needs to get rid of us for screwing it up so badly... of course they say god... blah blah blah... end of story :( that is what happens when humans believe the planet was made for our stupid selves to live on
too many people are blinded by belief systems to realize that our planet is literally going to "hell"

“The world has cancer, and the cancer is man." A. Gregg, Mankind at the
Turning Point.
and of course, most accept the point, at least here, and most do nothing.
to bring it back to the original point, of course our governments cause more terror than any of the outfits who currently provide them with so much opportunity to deflect attention from their own failings. The tragedy of course is that though they are painted as being so irrational they are in fact comletely the opposite. if you were a politically aware palestinian for example the only ratioanl recourse would be political violence, termed in the west as terrorism....

More and more it seems like we're repeating history. Scare people enough and they will gladly give up what 100,000s have died for to those that scare them the most.

FDR: Oh, I'm sorry, was wiping out our entire Pacific fleet supposed to intimidate us? We have nothing to fear but fear itself, and right now we're coming to kick your ass with brand new destroyers riveted by waitresses. How's that going to feel?
CHURCHILL: Yeah, you keep bombing us. We'll be in the pub, flipping you off. I'm slapping Rolls-Royce engines into untested flying coffins to knock you out of the skies, and then I'm sending angry Welshmen to burn your country from the Rhine to the Polish border.
US. NOW: BE AFRAID!! Oh God, the Brown Bad people could strike any moment! They could strike ... NOW!! AHHHH. Okay, how about .. NOW!! AAGAGAHAHAHHAG! Quick, do whatever we tell you, and believe whatever we tell you, or YOU WILL BE KILLED BY BROWN PEOPLE!! PUT DOWN THAT SIPPY CUP!!

Just wait till you see the next step :) The documents that prove that Iran is buying yellowcake from some country in Africa have already been "found" and pre-invasion operations are already in progress - when you hear the words that "Iran has pursued buying yellowcake from Niger(or whatever country they use this time) in documents found by our intelligence"
you can be sure we are within 3 months of invading Iran.
Of course we'll need a little more convincing this time so imagine if you will: an Iranian tanker headed towards the port of Baltimore - it is announced that it is carrying a small "suitcase" nuke and has been boarded by terrorists who intend to explode the device in the harbor. The US reacts of course by sending Air Force 1 out to circle the ship - with press on board - and then our special forces magically detonate the weapon before it can get to port - with live video taken from the plane - and little loss of life
