If he had spoken like this throughout the whole of his campaign he would have been in.

That is the trouble though,
that isn't who he is consistently.

John McCain at his very best can be noble,
but at his worst he is irrational, angry & somewhat dirty.

If he had of stuck to the high road, i don't know if he could have won, but i suspect he would have gotten more votes & he would have shown as a beacon in history of 'the honorable man'.

The financial debacle was his undoing, exposing his erratic side.

Do we credit people for their moments of nobility,
or discredit them for giving in to low impulses?

I suppose we are mixed bags always,
& hopefully history accurately measures the aggregate balance.

McCain is at his best when he has nothing to lose, the sometimes intermittent beauty that is there shines through.
When there is something to gain he is strategically clumsy to say the least.

When he laughs at himself he is so engagingly, warmly human.
when he takes himself seriously he tends to falls apart.

His concession speech was really graceful and eloquent.

It's weird, McCain really seemed to gain his bearings in the last week or so. If he would have listened to himself instead of trying to be all things to everybody on the far right, it might have been Obama conceding.

That said, I still like John McCain.

Well, I never was voting for MaCain, I was voting against Obama.

But now he is the President, and will respect his Office.

I don't like him, but he is the next president.

And NO you won't see me flying the flag Upside Down.

McCain was extremely gracious in his concession speech. I think that was the McCain I really liked a few years back.

I wonder how long it will be before SNL gets asked to nix POTUS sketches.

hey wayer57,

how's that 401k of yours doing?

If you aren't among the privileged corporate parasites it is hard to imagine how Bush has helped you.

Your home mortgage? is that in good shape?
Since you are white you probably didn't get preyed on by sub-prime scallywags, but i bet you have felt the heat of the bubble collapse.

Wait till BO gets in office. Economists are saying BO should tax 401k's on the front end too. Will BO raise taxes on retirees SSI checks or keep it the same? Better to lower the taxes on retirees, but the majority of the elderly didn't vote for BO.

Not long I'm sure. We'll see MAC on the show as well. He has a great sense of humor and he's such a good sport that it is easy for him to poke fun at himself an laugh along with the crowd.

if they're going to "nix" POTUS sketches, it'll be because Fred Armisen doesn't do a very good job with Obama.

But they won't nix them, they always do politics. Two SNL actors made a living off of Clinton.

I'd like to think satire is safe.

I saw a clip of a true Obama look-a-like. Armisen isn't that funny as Obama

This guy can make a living off the Obama similarities.
