This takes the cake! How can private citizens deploy armed soldiers into State affairs like Iraq? How can private citizens deploy armed patrols in the streets of our nation?

Now it appears that this US based and fed company is deploying a warship to Samoli. I repeat...WTF?

Blackwater sends warship to Gulf of Aden
David Osler - Friday 17 October 2008

BLACKWATER Worldwide — the US private military contractor embroiled in controversy over its actions in Iraq — has sent a private sector warship equipped with helicopters to the Gulf of Aden, and is offering its services to shipowners concerned with Somali piracy.

The vessel, McArthur, is described as a multipurpose unit designed to support military and law-enforcement training, peace-keeping and stability operations.

The ship and its helicopters have the ability to patrol a commercial vessel’s route, thereby avoiding the need to hire security contractors to ride on board.

Blackwater’s move came just hours before the Indian government confirmed that it intends to deploy a warship in the Gulf of Aden to guard its merchant ships from Somali pirates. The Indian ship will join assets from Russia, Malaysia and a multinational western-dominated coalition in the troubled waters.

Blackwater justifies its presence in the area commercially by pointing to the increased bills for shipowners operating in the region, including massive insurance hikes, double-pay danger money for seafarers, and ransom payments where ships are captured.

Blackwater Worldwide executive vice-president Bill Matthews said: “We have been contacted by shipowners who say they need our help in making sure goods get to their destination. The McArthur can help us accomplish that.”

Blackwater has ties to the US State Department, providing security for diplomatic personnel in conflict zones. In September last year, its staff were involved in a shoot-out in Baghdad that left 17 civilians dead, in contentious circumstances.

If you have a government that in the possession of Mercenary corporations,

Those mercenaries have to find places to be deployed or they have no business to conduct.

If you are a hammer you have to find or PRETEND their are nails that need pounding.

Blackwater is a hammer that is forcing our stupid corrupted government to pretend there are nails in need of pounding by government paid contracts.

Terrorism is a jobs & contract expansion program for the NSA, CIA, FBI

& all their private corporate parasites.

And 70% or more of this economic explosion is privatized,
ie. WASTED CORPORATE WELFARE.

And some very significant portions of this goes out to FOREIGN NATIONAL CORPORATIONS.

Jesus fucking christ, how can you even claim National Security & then farm it out to corporations underwritten by FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS???!!!!????

WTF??

Disrupter...I agree com[pletely with your take on this, but a couple of things bother me...the most grave of these concerns is that our administration should not have a private army. Dictators have private armies...mostly to protect their own hides and what they have already stolen from those governed.

I am certain that it runs against our Constitution.

The second thing is minor...it is simply that such an infraction against our democracy should draw such skant interest in a political group...as this one porports to be.

Thanks for making your feeling known on this...if no one at all responded or if only one of the in house idiots had noted that a privatize warship armed and without any sort of oversight other than a CEO involved by profit motive is chugging out to do battle with other criminals, I would have thought this list had totally been crapperized.:)

I disagree with the use of Blackwater for future operations in our government. As a private contractor I'm not sure if the US govt. could interfere in private negociations between 2 companies. As the new president takes over next year we may see Blackwater cut out of future contracts so these snakes are pursueing work abroad. I'm surprised the Somali's hired them.

These Rent a Cops in foreign waters will lead to confrontations with other countries. Terrorists will test these snakes and exploit thier weaknesses. Thier actions are on the company not the USA.

Why are we quartering a private army on our domestic soil, that is ready to whore itself out to what ever nation(s) is the highest bidder?

That MUST be illegal, mustn't it?

I would assume it is as illegal as any other whoring ...such as selling bombs, rockets, fighter planes and the software and instructors to effect the highest body count.

Think about it...what would a dentist be if there were no teeth...a cop without crooks...a drugpusher in a land of legal drugs?

We, our people, give honor to a class of Spartans that we continously create and arm...what would they be without victims?

We are a maturity-challenged society...and we LIKE it that way! That is the hardest trial to living into old age; accepting the fact that if you satisfy the need to interact in this world, you will never matriculate from kindergarden.

How is this story tied to a private army on domestic soil ? Sometimes you do mix your metaphors. I see nothing illegal thus far. Fact is private security has been growing for decades. Private prisons grew out of the Clinton era, with high abuse complaints and a high number of escapes due to poorly designed prisons. Defense contractors hire security guards with fangs, not teeth. This is required to defend national security interests.

BlackWater is falling from grace and they will fade into the landscape of foreign business services. After a couple of international incidences, they will no longer be trusted. The ME is a hot zone as is Africa, time is working against Blackwater and time is ticking down. Rent a Cops are never truely respected because we do not recognize those without legal authority.

Blackwater is a private, mercenary army.
It is headquartered on US soil.

Wake the fuck up, Seedy.
