View Full Version : What part of the economy hasn't already been gutted?
I keep hearing that if we go back to a more 1990s style of tax system that it will gut the economy.
It seems that the economy was better in the 90s and that it was during the past 8 years that the economy has been gutted.
So what isn't gutted already?

Sounds like Nixon style protectionism, which the GOP claims to be against. I think you need to work on your talking points a but more.

Try to wrap your head around this.
In the 1990s, the economy was better than the chaos that we've been going through the last month or so. To impose 1990s taxes on this present mess will tank everything; and everything internationally connected.
Stop being such a simpleton.

You're just repeating what you've been programmed to say.
The question is, "What part of the economy hasn't already tanked"?
If the GOP's mindset of borrowing and spending has tanked the economy already then why are you trying to blame the next person?
Stop being a programmed simpleton and think about where the current administration has taken us.
The pain in fixing the problems that you're been supporting is going to be bad. We borrowed nearly $5 Trillion under George W. Bush and it's going to hurt when paying it back. Kind of like all those people that Hog thinks shouldn't be allowed to vote.

What, you're a fucking idiot because you think it can't get worse?
You have tunnel vision, SM.

Things are going to get worse because no one is addressing the real problem.
The only thing going on is an effort to rebuilld some confidence in the stock market. The hope is to return to the old days, we just have to believe again.
To address the real causes would expose those at fault. You know the guys trying to fix this.

Smurf, I know it's going to get worse. Much worse. Years ago I was telling people that the financial crisis is going to worse when GOP supporters claimed that there was no housing bubble, no financial crisis and that the tax cuts would pay for themselves.
What I'm saying is the damage has already been done and the economy is going to tank for another 2 years no matter what. Cut taxes or raise taxes it won't matter.
The question of this thread is what part of the economy hasn't already been gutted by this administration?

Gutted by this admin is pretty narrow thinking.
This is a acculumation of 30 years of bad policy.
Though this admins 5 trillion in debt made it much worse.

Things were going pretty good there for a while. Under Reagan and Clinton we saw increases in many areas. Under Bush and Bush we saw the exact opposite. Unless of course people have some and discuss the areas of the economy that are doing well now and that Obama will destroy.

What we saw was changes in accounting during reagan that allowed liabilities to be turned into assets on paper.
What we saw under clinton was investor leveraging allowed to get out of control
All this added to the mess, as these organizations cant asorb losses they created by their own greed, which was sanctioned by washington in hope of creating economic growth when it wasnt market driven.
Bush just finished the scheme off.
His stupidity goes beyond any reasonable discussion.

I am not sure of what obama will do.
Right now hes trying to get elected and I dont take to much of what he says serious.
We are so at the beginning of this mess and any money throw at it will be wasted.
This is about getting the stock market moving somehow and they will keep pushing us as hard as they can, while eatting all those who dont belong there.
Mostly this is about getting money back to foreign investors not us.
I dont know how well either of the candidates would do as it depends on advice and the ability to listen.
We have to pave a way back to basic sound fiscal policy. Nothing wrong with how we all live on a budget.
The paper economy is the whole problem IMO. Buying it all back would be a very painful return to fair exchange in the business world.

This is where you're wrong. Increasing taxes will prolong it.

Taxes hurt poor people, not the wealthy they just bitch.
Not addressing the core problems make taxes irrevelent.

Taxes are never irrelevant.
The core problem is people not dealing with the details.

All I am saying is taxes make poor people poorer and rich people angry, but they solve nothing if they are not part of a solution.
We havent heard any solutions just attempts tto return to status quo.

Whatever happened to cutting spending?
Overtaxing, no matter who, impedes private sector growth.
And growth is what we need.

My point exactly, no cut in spending taxes up or down just cant keep up.
Of course we all want less, but if they were responsibly fixing problems then maybe, not obamas 54% on small business though.
