Every teenager and shopkeeper and working schuck in the Sunni middle east is saving up their drachma and sending it to the Iraqi sunni guerillas. And Iran is funding and arming the shia.
The hangings were the trigger.

Story Highlights
• NEW: 4 killed by car bomb near Baquba bus station; 14 killed in Baghdad
• U.S. says ground fire apparently downed four U.S. helicopters recently
• Iraqi Interior Ministry estimates 1,000 people killed in past week
• Massive truck bomb in Baghdad market Saturday killed at least 128
Those helicopter kills are kinda impressive. That's always the tipping point in a guerilla war - when the guerillas get a way to knock down low flying aircraft and move or at least hurt the occupiers air superiority.
Bush would be insane to attack Iran in the winter - he needs to wait till it's closer to spring, because oil will be at $200 a barrel the day after he bombs Iran.
And he'll need to wait untill he gets his 21k soldiers and about 15k support people in place before he attacks, because Iraq qill go bug-fucking-nuts the day after he bombs Iran.
He's backed himself into a corner - I think he thinks he has to bomb Iran, and hope to inflect a fatal wound.
He can't let go of the oil, and he can't keep it if Iran still lives as a shia theo-state.
Remember, Iran is said to be running out of oil in _ten years_ - it needs Iraq's oil for survival just as much as we do.
