View Full Version : So, what did we get for all these tax cuts and debt?
Where are the results from the "Trickle Down Economics"?
We gave investors a much larger tax break then workers.
We've been borrowing massive amounts of money to support our economy.
Much larger amount of that borrowing has been from over seas then in previous administrations.
We've seen much less job growth then the previous decade.
We see much higher unemployment.
We see much the economy needing about $1 trillion just to stay a float.
We'll spend close to $700 Billion without the bailout this year that we didn't generate in revenue.
What exactly did we gain by these huge tax cuts and all this borrowing of money since 2001?

It's weird that we all agree on this and both parties are in it for a pound if they are a penny. There's nothing to scream at eachother about.

Our Rep (R) here in Va. voted NO twice.
Rob Wittman is his name.
I called his office both times to thank him.
Pelosi, Frank, etc. - pieces of shit.
President Bush, McCain, Obama - ALL urging this thing be passed - all of you idiots, in my opinion - BAD call!!!

Finally,
Something as large a fuck up as this - that everyone here agrees with. Even HD and Senior...
My guess is the economy will continue to take a nose dive with the burden of another trillion dollars pissed away
(I think the $700 billion will grow limbs)!!!
as a parallel, look at the last 35 years of outsourcing (including NAFTA), which was soley used to maintain short term corporate profit margins without caring about the destruction of our middle class.:disbelief:
Another more recent example of what Capitalism causes is Japan. Their products are now having to be manufacured in China for this very same reason. This will be a domino effect until all the cheap labor around the world is consumed. Continuous 'growth' without forsight over the long term will strangle those remaining while critical mass is reached.
I feel that a social democracy is the only form of goverment that is sustainable. Maintain our manufacturing base within our borders, and start to care for all people who assist in this vision.
Also, change the mindset of greed that permeates our culture. This bullshit about needing to police the world and spread democracy, is just a cover for the predatory practice of nation building that needless wars and hundreds of thousnds of people are killed for.
An economy that is based on un-bridled Capitalism will ultimately implode upon itself.
I now return you to you regularly scheduled diet of un-stimulating banter.:taunt:

We got a bill shoved up our asses even though they knew we were 3/1 against even after the media went to bat for them.
Vote them all out thats all we have unless you want to go the revolutionary route which usually get you worse.

We got this uncertain future ahead of us, when we're encouraged NEVER to get sick. Ever.

We delegated the responsibilities of 'government' to someone else,
So we were freed to be unprincipled mercenaries.
We are always blind to the specifics of the future which is why we must keep history in our rearview mirror.
But we didn't.
we lived like history was ridiculous or irrelevant to the circumstances of our lives.
We are told by corporate advertising just how 'fabulously' we can live buying their products & if we don't we are losers & therefore something must be 'wrong' with us.
But if you think of the practicalities, can & do people live longer from corporate products or do they live longer & better because of government sponsored infrastructure such as clean water, roads, electricity & sewers?
Most of our lives is spent struggling to buy tons of mostly empty hype,
while we ignore the deep important things that make life fundamentally better.
AND while we ignore the fundamental important things those infrastructures are degrading & decaying rather than being maintained & replaced or upgraded as is needed.
I suppose at some point those people who care about the survival of humanity will simply rise up & form a collective dictatorship that imposes birth restrictions & screens technologies for only those that are either non-destructive or very close to it.
Irresponsible democracy, such as we have in the USA is unsustainable.
Being shocked when Washington DC is irresponsible when we ourselves are irresponsible just exposes us as idiots.

Its like we are hypnotized with our stuff.
We exspect the government to be exactly what it is so we are not disappointed as long as we are entertained.
Maybe the bad times to come will wake us, probably we will find something non relevant to blame.
By the way great post.

So now you and Senior admit that the tax cuts of the 2001 and 2003, and the idea of borrowing instead of paying our bills got us nothing but more debt. Nothing positive in the economy or the world.
I find that fascinating since you both support the administration.
Why is that?
