So is bigotry still common today, it seems so. I gave Obama consideration till
9/12/08, his color had no bearing on my decision, I'm still open to his politics and his policy. Independant voter polls are even closer and lien toward McCain, The "I's" have it in all elections in swaying the vote.

25% of Dems doubt Obama can bring about change.

Race is not the biggest factor driving Democrats and independents away from Obama. Doubts about his competency loom even larger, the poll indicates. More than a quarter of all Democrats expressed doubt that Obama can bring about the change they want, and they are likely to vote against him because of that.

Racial views steer some white Dems away from Obama

Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them "lazy," "violent," responsible for their own troubles.

The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004 — about two and one-half percentage points.

Certainly, Republican John McCain has his own obstacles: He's an ally of an unpopular president and would be the nation's oldest first-term president. But Obama faces this: 40 percent of all white Americans hold at least a partly negative view toward blacks, and that includes many Democrats and independents.

More than a third of all white Democrats and independents — voters Obama can't win the White House without — agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don't have such views.

The findings suggest that Obama's problem is close to home — among his fellow Democrats, particularly non-Hispanic white voters. Just seven in 10 people who call themselves Democrats support Obama, compared to the 85 percent of self-identified Republicans who back McCain.

The survey also focused on the racial attitudes of independent voters because they are likely to decide the election.

Among white Democrats, one third cited a negative adjective and, of those, 58 percent said they planned to back Obama. Just 59 percent of her white Democratic supporters said they wanted Obama to be president. Nearly 17 percent of Clinton's white backers plan to vote for McCain.

The survey of 2,227 adults was conducted Aug. 27 to Sept. 5. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.1 percentage points.

I don't agree with the extreme liberal policies of Obama. Way to socialist.

But even if he made promises of policies I agree with, I wouldn't vote for him.

His history is too corrupt and riddleled with racism and hatred for America.

I can believe nothing he says. I feel the same of his wife, Michele. There is no honesty in ether.

Obama is not what he appears to be. The man has no economic experience, no executive experience and he can't hold his own with world leaders when the man has even weined himself off prepared speeches. Obama wants free healthcare while mortgage debt is at Titanic levels and he thinks both issues can be dealt with at the same time, no friggin way.

Even Democrats doubt his competence to run the country, there's a reason why they doubt him. These polls are an accurate reflection of American opinion. Its too bad some will not vote for a black man, maybe a man with a more colorful and experenced background. No politician is 100% honest, not in this country.

Obama is far more dangerous than people want to believe. Some will vote democrat just because that's all they vote........not what I call the informed voter. The man has a lot of hate inside him, it jumps out frequently. Themajority may love his speeches but the man is full of apathy towards many classes of Americans.

YIKES .. how ridiculous on sooooo many levels.

There are lots of racist people in America .. where's the news?

Obama has no economic experience ... "I don't know anything about the economy" -- John McCain

... and because I don't know shit about the economy I'm going to make Phil fucking Gramm my economic brain .. the man mosr responsible for the subprime meltdown.

Obambi, on the other hand, stuck the pin in his own ballooon when he exposed himself as a centrist plutocrat and abandoned the forces that swept him into the nomination over the most powerful political family in the last 40 years, the Clintons.

That being said, Obambi has turned what should be the easiest election in American history and a landslide into a 8 or 9 point victory in November.

Republicans, dummies that they are, have given America the worst administration in history and turned anti-americanism into a religion.

Both parties have contributed to the end of the American empire.

Americans, dummies that we are, had a hand in the failures of this nation as well .. because we are indeed, dumb as a rock.

In other words, no matter which of these two buttsniffs gets elected, this country is still in big time trouble. We are in for a world of hurt and the pain we're going thru now is only the beginning.

I agree with your last three statements! This country is more enlightened
regarding who is on American Idol and The Biggest Loser etc. than they
are on what is being done to us by the government....knowledge is power...
we have become weak, big time!!!!

I have to add though, of all my librul friends, I see one common thread...
disgust for America while they drive their Lexus, live in luxury and make
lots and lots of money....they hate this country and talk with disdain
toward our way of life and those who are successful. Duh....people in
glass houses and all that stuff!

Absolutely correct.

Regardless of which poison you pick, it's still going to kill you.

Listening to the debate tonight was enough to make one run out and slit their own throat.

:lmao2: In my opinion, it was pitiful. It seems they both kept dodging the question. Or is that my imagination and did I miss something when I blinked?

Actually, all in all, it was pretty boring, even tho' they did do some smirking that I found funny. Neither has said anything new. And there wasn't even a question about what are they going to do about our borders and the illegals. Gee...go figure!

They both argued about who is better at chasing ghosts/terrorists and both laid out monumentally stupid plans for doing it. Obambi bascically said fuck the Pakistani's, I'm going to do whatever I want.

Both quibbled, hemmed, and hawed about the bailout and both came across as corporate candidates.

Obambi has become the king of nuanced answers that could mean anything or nothing at all.

I tried a few times to watch it but hey, I can slam my hand in a door and get
less pain from it than watching those two idiots. Or stick my hand on a hot
burner, or......oh well, you get the idea. Its that bad. I couldnt watch it
more than 2-3 minutes at a time. Yish!

And blacks from McCain, as well. No getting around it. Racism is always going to be prevelent in America. No one will move on and many are comfortable in their hate. And that goes both ways. And in this country, there's a lot of hate for anything or anybody that is different. Sure is ugly!
Hate, hate, hate! Such a beautiful and uplifting word. :banghead:

Did anyone actually read the poll questions? I gave a quick skim of it and pretty early on they ask about Rev. Wright...I just have a feeling it might have helped influence some of the answers later on. Polls are generally skewed though...there's racism still, yes, but I don't think it would prevent the majority of people voting for a competent black candidate.

As long as it is a useful tool for people who dont want to step up to the plate
and get on with it or if it is profitable for someone to keep the issue going, no
its not going anywhere! It works!

I think the Rev. Wright question pertained to adjuster the pollsters mind toward why the poll was asking about racism. Not to make them think of
this wacko who is racist against whites..

It's a knee jerk reaction though...I think the man is a terrible racist, he espouses things that would be repugnant to most white people...so I'm sure even in a subliminal sort of way it might have helped skew to a slightly more negative tone.

Obama appears to be racist indeed. And quite the elitist snob too. People remember the small stuff over politics and economic talk. Its too bad the man had it going so well, but his big mouth will not be forgotten.
