View Full Version : WINNING THE ELECTION...A REPUG SHORTCOURSE

I believe this repport below, is unusually clear-eyed take on our two party system. My personal belief on this subject, to move it a bit further along, is that today's polls are rigged to hide the fact that maccain is getting trounced, to make their voter fraud more believable in the end.

Demographically, if there were 100% turnout and all the votes were counted honestly, dems would win in a landlslide, as there are so many more dems registered than there are repugs...but somehow, this disparity has been overturned mysterously in the last eight years of elections.

This report below lays out the elements of how repugs win.

We're Gonna Frickin' Lose this Thing
by Adam McKay

"Stop saying that!" my wife says to me. But this is not a high school football game and I'm not a cheerleader with a bad attitude. This is an election and as things stand now, we're gonna frickin' lose this thing. Obama and McCain at best are even in the polls nationally and in a recent Gallup poll McCain is ahead by four points.

Something is not right. We have a terrific candidate and a terrific VP candidate. We're coming off the worst eight years in our country's history. Six of those eight years the Congress, White House and even the Supreme Court were controlled by the Republicans and the last two years the R's have filibustered like tantrum throwing 4-year-olds, yet we're going to elect a Republican who voted with that leadership 90% of the time and a former sportscaster who wants to teach Adam and Eve as science? That's not odd as a difference of opinion, that's logically and mathematically queer.

It reminds me of playing blackjack (a losers game). You make all the right moves, play the right hands but basically the House always wins. I know what you're going to say " But I won twelve hundred dollars last year in Atlantic City!" Of course there are victories. The odds aren't tilted crazy, but there is a 51%-49% advantage. And in the long run, the house has to win. The house will win.

So what is this house advantage the Republicans have? It's the press. There is no more fourth estate. Wait, hold on...I'm not going down some esoteric path with theories on the deregulation of the media and corporate bias and CNN versus Fox...I mean it: there is no more functioning press in this country. And without a real press the corporate and religious Republicans can lie all they want and get away with it. And that's the 51% advantage.

Think this is some opinion being wryly posited to titillate other bloggers and inspire dialogue with Tucker Carlson or Gore Vidal? Fuck that. Four corporations own all the TV channels. All of them. If they don't get ratings they get canceled or fired. All news is about sex, blame and anger, and fear. Exposing lies about amounts of money taken from lobbyists and votes cast for the agenda of the last eight years does not rate. The end.

So one side can lie and get away with it. Now let's throw in one more advantage. Voter caging and other corruption on the local level with voting. Check out the article here on HuffPost about Ohio messing with 600K voters. If only five thousand of those voters don't or can't vote that's a huge advantage in a contest that could be decided by literally dozens of votes. That takes us to about a 52 to 48% advantage.

Story continues below

I'm not even getting into the fact that the religious right teaches closed mindedness so it's almost impossible to gain new voters from their pool because people who disagree with them are agents of the devil. I just want to look at two inarguable realities: A) we have no more press and B) the Repubs are screwing with the voters on the local level.

I'm telling you, we're going to lose this thing. And afterwords we'll blame ourselves the same way we did with Gore and Kerry (two candidates a thousand times more qualified to lead than W Bush.) Just watch.. McCain wins by a point or two and we all walk around saying things like "Obama was too well spoken." "Biden wasn't lovable enough." "I shouldn't have split those eights." "Why did I hit on 16? Why?!"

So what do we do?

1) We give definitive clear speeches like Biden and Obama gave the other day about how no one talked about any issues at the Republican Convention and how they outright lied. But we do them over and over again. 2) We use the one place where it's still a 50-50 game -- the internet -- as much as we can. 3) But most importantly we should bring up re-regulating the media and who owns it and what that conflict of interest is a lot more. By pretending there's no conflict of interest we're failing to alert the public that they're being lied to or given a looking at a coin at the bottom of a pool slanted truth. Every time a pundit or elected official is on any TV news program it should be a polite formality to mention that GE has made such and such billions off the war in Iraq by selling arms or that Murdoch is a right-wing activist with a clear stake in who wins and who taxes his profits the least. Disney, GE, Viacom, and Murdoch -- all want profits and the candidate and agenda that will get in their way the least.

Obama and Biden should also create a "master sound bite sentence" and repeat it hundreds of times. It should be so true that even the corporations can't screw with it when it makes the airwaves. Here's my attempt: "Katrina, four dollar gas, a trillion dollar war, rising unemployment, deregulated housing market, global warming...no more."

This race should be about whether the Republican Party is going to be dismantled or not after the borderline treason of the past eight years. But instead it is about making the word "community organizer" a dirty word and a beauty queen who shoots foxes from a plane. Someone is not in any way doing their job and it's the press. Or more specifically, that job no longer exists.

Probably the worst offenders are the pundits who take the position that it's all just a game and say phrases like "getting a post-convention bump" or "playing to the soccer Moms." This isn't a game of Monopoly or Survivor. There are real truths that exist outside of the spin they are given and have an effect on lives. 250,000 Iraqi civilians are dead because we let our reality be distorted by the most effective propaganda machine in fifty years, the corporate American press. Money and jobs are flying out of this country as our currency becomes worthless and we're talking about the fact that McCain is a veteran. If someone busted into your house and robbed you would you then forgive them if you found out they were a veteran? Of course not. So why are we forgiving McCain for selling out his country by supporting the Bush agenda?

This is it folks. If McCain takes power we fade and become Australia in the seventies: a backwoods country with occasional flashes of relevance. Except we've got a way bigger military and we're angrier. People will get hurt and we'll pay the bill for the bullets. I'm telling you, unless we wake up, we're gonna lose this frickin' thing.

People love her honesty, intelligence and down to earth nature. She is the "picture image" of mainstream America.

Sarah Palin will most likely be elected Vice President in 08, and President in 2012, and serve for 8 years...Palin till 2020!

But instead it is about making the word "community organizer" a dirty word and a beauty queen who shoots foxes from a plane. Obama's claim of "community organizer" as being his experience to be President, exposes him as nothing more than a cheap two bit street hustler.

His fast rise in politics would not have been possible any place else except with the help of the corrupt 'Chicago Political Machine'.

Well, Hog, I can't say that I disagree with you. They didn't see her coming. So now they are scrambling to "expose" any dirt on her they can find and discredit her.

While I really don't like either prez. candidate, and I don't think McCain would be good for the economy and jobs, I can't help but like the fact that Palin is now on the ticket with him. That's a huge plus in my eyes. My family has been struggling for the last eight years under the republican hold, and I just don't know how much more we can take.

But I'm trying to look at the bigger picture and trying to figure out for myself whom I think will be the best person for America and will serve, we, the people. While Obama has a very great way with words, he has chosen to mingle with people that override that fact. I really don't care to see my president cozying up with creepy people. And who's to say what kind of change he is yapping about? Are we going to like that change? Or is it change that is going to put a tighter grip around our throats?

It's very disheartening that the candidates and media only want to smear rather than talk about the real issues. When was the last time the candidates dicussed the issues?

I'm going to vote for the one I think will be best for our country.

Bye-bye-Obama....B-O could always get a job selling used cars on the South Side.

Hey, we didn't vote for that moron. I'm not one of the sheeple that put him in office. And as for getting hit over the head, we'll have to wait and see how many sheeple will start complaining when Obama doesn't do what the people think he should or makes changes they won't like, if he gets elected. I'm not a Bushite...that man and the repugs have made a total mess of everything. They've been letting the jobs fly out of here. They've done nothing about illegals. But Obama is as bad as the rest of them. At least I've been wide awake and none of this bullpucky has come as a surprise to me.

Both parties are full of greed and can't get enough. There is never an end to their bullpucky and the mean spiritedness gets worse during every election. All crapola and no meat. Cartoon characters.

Conspiracy theorists never get it! The polls are coming from both sides Stefan! You should wade in shallow waters and avoid criminal pandering whore sites like HuffingtonBluff! That evil bitch was on Larry King last night telling the world there is no problem with how the legislature is operated. She told Chuck Norris and King that the legislature has no major problems and she has no problems with programs being rigged for the RICH! Huffington has a double standard, the site may have some good articles from time to time but that woman is not your friend!

SeedyRom, I like Arianna just like I like palin likeable in that I admire her personally, but palin's view of what 'good' looks like is my nightmare vision of the US, and Arianna was once a repug before she turned enthueastic dem...although I find Arianna's political viewpoint far more compatable to my own.

Have you ever wondered what palin's copy would sound like without a repug army of overseers to cut and edit?

I saw a tape of her in her church...pretty sarey notions in that pretty head.

I saw another of her gang of six...a group in which she exercizes and and coffee klotches with. The tape was of the five women (palin was not included), speaking of how they love palin, but this feeling is aside from palin's political aspect...as four of them refused to state that they would vote for her, while alluding to areas of differences between them.

This woman is a creationist who believes the world is ending.
Her record of vindictiveness is well documented...and no one feels comfortable in stating opposition arguments to her own, because it is well known she will get you if you dare to think on your own.

The woman is quirky among a town of seven thousand who watched her grow up, but a monster if given power on a National scale...don't you see that...or is all the detrimental copy about her just dem sexist lies?

Palin is a religious nutcase,

she is the more genuine article than Bush the pretender was.

A fantasizing zealot that is out of touch with reality,

America please wake up.

brb, after i dig a few more inches down in my new backyard bomb shelter for the GOP nuclear exchanges with Russia.

Hmmm?...I wonder why the same people who complain about a conservatives religion, never complain or question Obama's religion???

I never hear any questions about the Black Liberation Theology that teaches and preaches hatred for America and racism, which is the platform of Obama's church.

I however have heard a ton of excuse making from them about Obama's religion....Could this be another example of political correctness or simply just blind loyalty?

Stefan, Palin spoke a church she is not affiliated with directly. Compared to Rev. Wright and Obamas religous past, Palin's views are not that bad. She is not an End of Times believer, Palin simply conveyed what others believe in and the end of times talk has been around long before she was born. You should read her comments on the accusations. She is no longer as scripted as she was in the several days after the RNC.

I don't think Palin is out to get even with people who oppose her. Where were the complaints prior to the Veep annoucement, there were very few. And the man who Tasered a young child, used mace and made death threats, well the cop should be fired and Palin had every right to remove the Commissioner for defying her. The cop was unsafe for public service.

Dems have been extremely sexist of Palin as they were agains Hillary Clinton, this is common as people in politics will say anything to win. I tend to wade in the shallow end of the gene pool and go with facts over fiction. I'm sure you do too since you know Huffington's past Rep ties.

hogtrash...you never cease to amaze. If you had any sense of freedom for all, you couldn't devise such an apples vrs. oranges type question as you "crafted", (my belief is that you pull this shit out of your ass between drinks), for yor first sentence.

Everyone here in the US is free to practice whatever mental garbage they choose...the problem with fundamentalist pro-life creationist, is that they demand and strive to suppress the beliefs of ALL (in their perfect world) others.

I now this concept is a mental stretch for what's left of your brain, but the bottom line in our Constitution and bill of rights calls for freedom of religion for all. Fundamentalist would rather shoot a doctor to death at a birth control center, than afford those people their right to their own beliefs.

Try to keep up trash...butch disallowed those suffering from an aids debacle the use or training of the of the utiltiy of rubbers...the most simple of prophalactic against the spread of this killer desease. The reason butch gave money (our money) for medication (aside from his connection to the pharma industry) and the teaching of abstinence...is butch's penchant to make ALL of us think just like him.

Happily, you don't have the power to withold assistance and allow the masses of people in Africa to die just to prove some asshole point of your own...this is a good thing:)

A better state of affairs, would be if you allowed each of us...ALL of us the right to our own beliefs...you do yours FOR YOURSELF, and each of us do ours, FOR OURSELVES...It's called "The American Way".

If ever you find yourself sober, and aren't digging the plaster off the walls with your fingernails looking for that lost pint, then give this some thought...who knows...you may even improve your awareness.
