Have their cops rough them up and arrest them for "suspicion of rioting"!

Way to go GOP. That first amendment is some fucked up shit.

Abdel Kouddous was slammed against a wall and the ground, leaving his arms scraped and bloodied. He sustained other injuries to his chest and back. Salazar's violent arrest by baton-wielding officers, during which she was slammed to the ground while yelling, "I'm Press! Press!," resulted in her nose bleeding, as well as causing facial pain. Goodman's arm was violently yanked by police as she was arrested.

On Tuesday, Democracy Now! will broadcast video of these arrests, as well as the broader police action. These will also be available on: www.democracynow.org.

Goodman was arrested while questioning police about the unlawful detention of Kouddous and Salazar who were arrested while they carried out their journalistic duties in covering street demonstrations at the Republican National Convention. Goodman's crime appears to have been defending her colleagues and the freedom of the press.

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher told Democracy Now! that Kouddous and Salazar were arrested on suspicion of rioting, a felony.

Police told her twice to get back on sidewalk and he was busy with other possible incident. She blew him off. What do you think will happen?
Also attacking gop for police conducting street controll is a stretch.
I am sure Democratic police would respond similiar.
As they should.

If I recall correctly about 1800 people were arrested during the Republican Convention in 2004 and New York paid around $24M in lawsuits.

This looks like a repeat. Hundreds arrested, lawsuits ...

SirMoby mentioned something in another thread that has me thinking. To what extent was/is the federal government involved? Two conventions and the security is like night and day.

No there were arrests. I did not hear of any "pre-emptive" raids. Obviously some people were a bit put off with the security. But you can't please everyone.

The reason the NYPD had to pay those lawsuits is because of I-Witness video bloggers exposed case after case where police lied.

That is one of the 'preemptive' raids the police made to intimidate the people who would hold them to account.

St. Paul Police Conduct Mass Preemptive Raids Ahead of Republican Convention

Armed groups of police in the Twin Cities have raided more than half-a-dozen locations since Friday night in a series of “preemptive raids” before the Republican National Convention.http://www.democracynow.org/2008/9/1/st_paul_police_conduct_mass_pre

Phone Mistress i hope you know the corporate media is going to give you only spin & avoid most stories that are meaningful or relevant or honest.

I am very much aware of the situation disrupter. I don't even bother with the cable news networks anymore and prefer primary sources whenever possible I like to see the original transcript, video and audio.

Glad you mentioned I-Witness video bloggers. That name keeps popping up in these stories from Minnesota about police aggressiveness.

oh, you meant the Democratic convention? Phone Mistress?

I think there may have been one or two, but they didn't register all that much at the time.
I think they did pepper spray some protesters & arrest them.
Then they forced them to plead guilty to some minor charge or the out-of-towners would have had to have come back days later.

i personally am not happy with the Denver response.

Look at what they did to an ABC reporter pushing him out into traffic, simply for filming Senators whoring with Fat Cats on a public sidewalk.

Before the Denver convention they ran a 60 y/o librarian out of the lobby on city property who had a sign 'McCain=Bush' at one of those John McCain phony town hall meetings.

Denver's mayor wouldn't get my vote for dog crap eater.

Rnc not popular with this admin in office, No arguement, but the police being out of line is a stretch.
Watch the video again.
Were not politicians we dont have to spin everything for some percieved gain.
Police were calm and professional.

yeah but you should see some of the other stuff they did prior to this.

She was no threat.

it is all bullshit, outlaw police state bullshit.

of course that is what police are for the most part, thugs in uniform.
they are marginally better than in earlier American history, but not by much.

i can't believe how much they beat people up needlessly on camera on the COPs show.
Of course they are the same people we expect to go out & face or at least dodge flying bullets sometimes, so i guess it is an uncomfortable relationship.

they are the thug enforcers for the criminal elite.
