View Full Version : I dont support the war but I support the troops

Is this the most retarded statement in history? The only troops I support were the fews that refused to serve in Iraq.
It is like saying I dont support prositution but I support Jack the Ripper.
Then I'm an ass.
I've sat down and talked to a few young soldiers, spent most of my life within a few miles of the Pentagon, not far from Quantico, CIA or NSA headquarters. I heard the explosion on 9/11 from my town home in Alexandria, VA.
The people that choose to serve this country do it for a variety of reasons but most do it for the right reasons. Sure I know a few soldiers that want "To Kill Hodgie" but most simply want to serve the country. That means the Commander In Chief. They will follow orders and that also means following orders without question as often there isn't time.
Just because I don't support the leaders that started this war doesn't mean I don't support the people that have chosen to follow orders.
I may not like Walmart leadership but that doesn't mean I should spit on it's employees. I may not like Ahmadinejad but I'm not going to avoid my Iranian friends.
I respect anyone willing to give their life for this country.

150,000 people have died due to them not standing up and saying no we wont fight? If your arguement is correct then why did all the Nazis at the end of the war go to prison or were executed? Surely they were just following orders to?

You don't fault the hand of the wicked person beating you?
but you still must take logical actions against that hand as well as the rest of that wicked person in any event.
so you can talk about how [theoretical the] 'innocence' of the hand is,
but it is pure pablum,
Bullshit.
Wrongness runs from the brain to all of the acting parts of the body.
It is an absurdity to differentiate them.
this is just a verbal ploy by wicked word smiths,
and you are GULLIBLE enough to swallow it, hook line & sinker.

Around a million died before they got there, by Saddam's hand.
And all the nazis didn't get executed or go to prison. Only those in the leadership; and those guilty of war crimes.

But they carry it out.
people committing abominations under 'orders' can not claim 'innocence'.
it is illegal to follow an unlawful order.
NAZIs who were just 'following orders' were criminally culpable.
A uniform is not an excuse to commit war crimes.
The days of irresponsible 'soldiering' need to be put finally & completely to rest.

they are both a part of the same system.
they both [all] should be held accountable.
the people at the top should carry the bigger burden since their choices have vastly wider & deeper & more lasting ramifications.
parasitic contractors like you asroc can be executed with impunity.

Huh? Did you get up on the wrong side of the padded room this morning?
I made this abundantly clear before:
disrupter i was supposed to install a system called TROPHY onto our tanks and hummers, but when i got there it seemed that RAYTHEON had greased some palms and literally stole the contract illegally from under us. they even got it at triple the cost.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TROPHY_Active_Protection_System
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TROPHY_Active_Protection_System#Rejection_by_the_U nited_States
it was a cheap, working system that would have saved countless lives had it not been for the big boys in the defense industry bribing congress and the pentagon. RAYTHEON's stupid system will never be ready, but they got the contract money upfront
this story is a microcosm of what the iraq war is really, really about: cashing in on contracts. you bribe the right people in congress and your super high bid for your non-functional bullshit gets added to the war spending bill
if somebody votes against the non-functioning bullshit, they are "against the troops"
i was sent packing and i haven't worked in the defense industry since. i work IT now for the local university's particle accelerator
so i could do without the lectures about how i have blood on my hands
if you continue down that road i would suggest you simply stop acknowledging me because you are incapable of any decent level of respect and discourse. this is what you get for making the kind of assumptions you make, because of your absolutist philosophy.
You're lashing out at the wrong guy about contracting, which you seem to think means "war profiteering" in all cases.
disrupter
08-15-2008, 02:14 PM
Well according to my doctrine you have a free hand to start carving up anyone from Raytheon you see fit to.
Virtually all the contracting in Iraq is thievery.
The place was never secured.
so the contracts proposed are impossible to effect,
it is unethical to promise to fulfill the impossible.
And the American people [not the criminal elite] and her children are now & will be footing the bill for this 3 Trillion dollar fiasco,
unless it continues to 4 or 5 Trillion dollars.
Come on America, put down your flags & plug in your common sense.
What's in it for you?
More future terrorism & a BIG FAT IOU that will NEVER be repaid.

People just get off on the 'rush' of military power [empowerment].
Do you support troops when they are raping civilians?
when they intentionally or accidentally kill them & then 'plant' a drop weapon so it will be dismissed as killing 'insurgents'.
How about when they are creating generations of anti-American terrorist where there otherwise would have been none?
btw, isn't an 'insurgent' just some patriotic Iraqi trying to free his homeland from the foreign invaders?
The Iraq adventure is an abomination from beginning to end.
and the end is the 3 Trillion dollar billing we & the American children are being stuck with for a bunch of thieving parasites, hiding behind the intentional chaos & unaccountability of this war.
Americans are reckless to their shame.
Over the long run they will almost certainly pay the price for that.
Wealth is often its own worst enemy.
The only way you can support the Iraq mission, is if you have not a single scruple whatsoever.
Saying you 'support the troops' without a single qualification is an abdication of your DUTY as a citizen of this nation.
A betrayal of civil democracy.
If you say you support the troops without a single qualifier you should lose your right to vote,
because they are doing 'your' voting with 'their' guns.
The rest of us should keep our guns AND our right to vote.
HEY GUESS WHAT?
RUSSIA JUST DID YOUR 'VOTING' IN OSSETIA FOR YOU!
HURRAY! SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

Isn't the essential element that you either support or don't support the actions of the troops?
And the phrase 'support the troops' is designed to turn you into a blind idiot?
an attempt to disengage the notion of the 'troops' from the actual actions they are taking/making.
like a bit of subtle brain solvent to unglue these two intertwined things inside the illusions of our imaginations.
The notion of 'troops' become some magic icon, instead of the gritty necessary, imperfect reality they have to be to function.

I was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California for 7 months prior to shipping out to Viet Nam. Many of the people I encountered their where the rudest, cruelest, nastiest, most obnoxious people I believe I have ever met in my life.
When I returned to the states I flew a commercial flight into LA International. I had about a three hour wait to catch my next flight out and encountered many of the same rude people as when I had left California.
We were warned by our command not to retaliate as the authorities in California aggressively protects these lowlifes and would prosecute if we were to harm them. I probably still harbor animosity for these cruel and cowardly liberals.

Because Moby, for someone that has NEVER been in a combat situation, you seem to have all the answers.
YOU (nor a moron that would so state such a statement), cannot really go on record as being in favor of a US loss in Iraq, but a win would seriously hamper you're (their) political ambitions.
You bastards want so bad to prove that the decision to go into Iraq was a fucked up one, and that Bush simply wanted to "steal" all the oil.
You want so bad to prove it was a failure.
Truth is Moby, it has been a raging success, and that's why it's not even on the table for the election.
We have kicked ass despite all the negativity by the lefties.
Iraq has been TOTAL success weather YOU will admit it or not.
YES, I support my brothers (and sisters) over there and anywhere they are.
I am one of them, and I will never forget that.
When one spills blood, MY blood is also spilled. I am with every one of them, and my support is with them.
Not just with a stupid signature file like some of the do nothing losers on this board that "say they support the troops" but really don't have a clue, I support them with all my being.
I also support the mission, because we MUST show the enemy that we mean business and will not play by their rules.
You damn people don't have a clue.
My Creed:
I am an Airborne trooper, A paratrooper!
I Jump by parachute from any plane in flight.
I volunteered to do it, knowing well the hazards off my choice.
I serve in a mighty airborne force, famed in deeds in war and renowned for readiness in peace.
I pledge to uphold its honor and prestige in all I am and all I do.
I am an elite trooper, a sky trooper, a shock trooper, a spearhead trooper.
I blaze the way to far flung goals behind, before, above the foe's front line.
I know that I have to fight without support for days on end.
Therefore, I keep mind and body always fit to do my part in any airborne task.
I am self reliant and unafraid.
I shoot true, and march fast and far.
I fight hard and execute in every art and artifice of war, I never fail a fellow trooper.
I cherish as a sacred trust the lives of the men with whom I serve.
Leaders have my fullest loyalty, and those I lead never find me lacking.
I have pride in the Airborne!
I never let it down.
In peace, I do not shirk the dullest duty nor protest the toughest training. My weapons and equipment are always combat ready.
I am neat of dress, military in courtesy, proper in conduct and behavior.
In battle, I fear no foe's ability, nor under estimate his prowess, power and agility.
I fight him with all my might and skill ever alert to evade capture or escape a trap.
I NEVER surrender, though I may be the last.
My goal in peace and war is to succeed in any mission of the day or die if it needs be in the try.
I belong to a proud and glorious team, the Airborne, the Army, my Country. I
am its chosen pride to fight where others my not go to serve them well until the final victory. I am a trooper from the sky! I am my nations best! In peace and war I never fail.
ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, in ANYTHING,
I am the Airborne!

These pricks don't have a fricking clue, and Hollywood doesn't either.

Defacing the troops is not necessarily the only alternative to not supporting the troops [if they are engaged in an evil destructive action].
You can treat the troops neutrally while assailing the bastards that instituted an anti-American policy.
You are NOT required to act like some mindless cheerleading squad.
They volunteered to follow the war criminal in the Whitehouse, no one drafted them.
I will however say it is shameful that the same bastards that put them on this reckless destructive mission are the same ones that denied them decent treatment upon return home. The GOP & the Whitehouse quartered wounded soldiers with rats, mold & collapsing ceilings. They have given the troops the shittiest end of the stick possible.
The ones who don't support the troops while telling others to are the GOP congress & the Whitehouse war criminals.
What TWISTED HYPOCRISY.
It is OUR fault however that a war criminal is occupying the Whitehouse,
ours & the traitorous congress of Pelosi & the GOP.
Those are the people who most deserve your contempt,
Bush, Pelosi, Cheney, & all the rest of the corporate traitors.

I do not support the Democratic fuckwads who want to cut funding for the war just to win an election! I do not like the fact that Obama wanted to vote against further war funding!!!! The WMD crap is put to bed, this war is also a humanitarian effort!!! I guess its okay to support Dems who voted for the War and the Troops that went into Somolia and Bosina and Haitti but not Iraq!!!
Why, because party lines are more important than American lives!!! Some of you people just do not understand that both sides play your asses 24/7 and you buy into the NLP programming by democratic and Rep. media supporters. The masses are easily brainwashed.
Cutting funding kills soldiers, cutting funding cuts off food supplies to soldiers too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I retired O-4 Lt. Commander from the Navy as a ONI officer. I love to watch people defend Iraqi insergents as if they are innocent and fighting a criminal war that is not criminal!! Why, because the our Congess and President are free from prosecution on every Bill they sign, yet the masses say impeach the bastard. He can't be impeached even though Bush deserves it. The law is written so no one politician can be impeached and the masses want to violate the Constitution to impeach a man for lieing, get over it. Cleaning up Iraq makes the world a better place, it was only a matter of time before we invaded and took down the criminal regime in Iraq.
Weak people buy into the mass hysteria created by party poopers hellbent on taking power in DC. Think the Dems are gonna cut funding for the war?? It wasn't about cutting funding as much as it was about jockeying for power and the masses were suckered in.
So are you gonna vote against the Dems who voted to fund the war over and over??? ..........I bet most of you will turn a blind eye to the politicians who funded the war over and over and I bet you don't understand why Obama flip flopped in favor of finishing the war either!!

Anyone can do fluff pieces shaking hands for pictures and show support for the troops. Lazy maybe or attention span problem...Ritalin or Adderall could correct both.
Asroc likes to attack the person posting rather than actually read something sometimes. Why research the facts. I see this all the time with people online. They read the Dem or Rep media sites and assume they have all the facts. He makes excuse like 90% or not worth reading, sometimes that is true but how would he know unless he read or researched the story beforehand.
Asroc is just Winging it at times.
Newspaper writers and online writers sit back and wait for Rueters or AP News to had them a new story, then they re-write as if it were an original body of work and give a credit at the bottom of the article. Not hard to do.
The real reporters work in the field while the lazy slobs sit back and type away and load stories with opinion and false information. Many do not even realize how much info is copied and re-written all over the internet. Great way to make money, but they build nothing and get credit for someone else's field work.

In WHAT drug deluded state did you think Iraq was a 'humanitarian effort'?
It is just a crowbar to pry taxpayer dollars away for a bunch of criminal contractors.
My god, what do you think is going on over there?
Ethnic cleansing/stratification has been allowed to happen under GWB & the neocon's watch.
Is there ANYTHING that could undermine any scrap of hope for a coherent integrated Iraq?
The war exposes that our nation is run by greedy, murderous mercenaries.
You people are just nuts.
Make that 3 Trillion dollar & counting EXPENSIVE nuts.
Thanks! All presidents should come from the military or at least spend a few months (minimum 3 months) with them near a combat zone. Anyone can do fluff pieces shaking hands for pictures and show support for the troops. I think anyone who runs for office has to be an arrogant son of a gun to think they can carry the weight and responsibility. Whomever wins lets hope he doesn't hide behind the desk and avoid using political polls to guage the opinions of the public.
That leaves out almost all Presidents.
How do you feel about Presidents that believe there is an after life that's better then life on Earth? Wouldn't we prefer to have a President that considers life on Earth more precious then a stop gap before something wonderful?

Lol, I'd have to rule out Kucinich based on my opinion. We did have several good presidents who never served in recent decades. My thinking is based on the resent state of disarray in Russia and M.E. Provided Obama chooses the right Veep and continues at least half of the JCS he'll do okay, not great, with foreign relations, but he'll get bullied into deals that could possible cause more conflict in the future.

So, is there something I'm supposed to comment on here or what?
As far as I can tell this is just the ad hominem and straw man arguments you're saying I make.

I'm poking fun at you. You just admitted on the other thread that you did not read the info on the link provided, information you asked me for. Sorry if it offended you. I'd prefer people take a position based on the facts rather than attempting to wingit on opinion alone.

I didn't realize wikipedia and findlaw were liberal websites.
Okay, let's look at factcheck.org then, since you are apparently claiming it to be the end-all-be-all of neutral sources....

Not true, I'll read and take seriously anything you actually make an attempt to source. Idle speculation I'm just going to treat as such.
You linked to factcheck.org as a serious source, despite curiously not linking to an actual article regarding your point. I then actually looked up the article I can only assume you were talking about.

You are idle that's for sure. I gave credilbe sources and they sourced the info
from the media who covered the entire event. Making excuses is an easy cop out for idle minds. FactCheck is a serious source.

You realize the factcheck article provided a ton of evidence contrary to your claims and cited "liberal media" newspapers like the Boston Globe, right? The same as the wikipedia entry you said was liberally biased.
It cited WSJ articles contrary to your claims. Basically it's useless to discuss it with you, because you just claim the mountain of evidence contrary to your position is part of a liberal media conspiracy. No different than arguing with a 9/11 truther.

Good to see you read the entire long page, finally. I used the facts relevant to your questions about my original joke on Kerry and McCain. The full story was there, not the liberally biased and heavily edited version you provided.
FactCheck provides all the facts, they do no cherry pick. I happen to belive parts of Kerry's version to be true but I was not going to give you an inch of lattitude over a joke till I made my point and you actually read the information. So knw you know something new about Kerry and his SWiftboat buddies, something biased media outlets chose not to share with the world.
Did I say liberal conspiracy..........how about political conspiracy......that's what I'd say since the Reds do it too.

I cited evidence that contradicted your theory. That's how you debate.
I even used a source we both agreed on to do it.
How about we just keep this argument in the relevant thread from now on.
Enjoy having the last word here, I'm not discussing it in this thread anymore.

Your too lazy to perform due diligence, you'd rather sit back coast along like lazy asses do. You did not contradict me, all you did is provide cherry picked facts, I picked the facts I needed which are not disputed by anyone.
Get over it, you didn't know about the Swiftboaters who went back to thier original statements. Don't waste time responding to posts until you read the links provided. You can't debate all the facts. Lazy Asroc Lazy!!

So, TO GET ON TOPIC...
My brother in law is in Iraq right now, and we've had many discussions regarding how I disagree with the war in and of itself, but I support the troops because they're not to blame for the policy.
He has qualms with the war, is one of the huge majority of troops who now donate to Obama over McCain (http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/08/troops-deployed-abroad-give-61.html), but isn't as anti-war as I am.
Yet despite our not complete consensus, we're able to talk and debate like reasonable people.
Imagine that.

You are too lazy to debate anything, try reading and enriching your mind when someone offers details you are ignorant about. The thread is derailed because you've got your head up Kerry's ass. :lmao2:
