View Full Version : Oil Executives Tell McCain Coastal Drilling Is A Good Idea
This is why I'm for drilling but not the way that the administration wants to do it. They're getting information from the oil companies. The oil companies are NOT America and are concerned with what's good for oil companies and NOT America.
We can't allow corporate America and election year politics to scare us into a bad move. We can drill! We should drill! That doesn't mean sell the leases to the oil companies as being requested :banghead:

The oil executives say within a couple of years we could be seeing results from it.

Aren't the oil companies the experts on where to find oil - considering that's what they do; with all their scientists and equipment.
This is the same argument that says you can't listen to the generals about Iraq.

This is where you're mistaken again on this issue. McCain stated "oil executives" and the vast majority of those executives are experts at making money and putting together business deals that profit their companies.
Remember, I'm not opposed to drilling, I'm just opposed to selling the leases to the oil companies without a lot of oversight and I'd prefer that we never lease the land and actually have America drill for the oil.

Have America drill for the oil?
WTF are you talking about?
There is no federally owned drilling operation.
Have you grajeated 6th grade yet, Jethro?

That's what we have to do if we're going to increase national security though oil independence.
Why can't we out source the drilling? We pay the oil companies to drill but the oil is ours. That way when it comes out of the ground we get the oil. It's American oil. It doesn't get shipped to Japan. We don't have to buy it from the oil companies.
Either that or we need a great deal of oversight when creating the contracts for the oil companies to drill.
We need to come up with creating solutions. There's no reason to keep doing the same things that got us in trouble.
McCain is right when he says that this crisis has been 30 years in the making. It's time to step back and think about the situation instead of listening to drug addicts on the radio and GOP reps trying to promote hysteria.
Wouldn't it be better to have the US government out source the oil drilling and own the oil instead of sell rights and have to keep buying the oil from the people that running up the prices now?

Oil companies don't work that way.
And what good is oil, if we can't refine it. We don't have the capacity. What we can't refine, we sell, to pay for refined fuel. Crude oil can't be used for anything. And considering everything is NOT owned by the US government, we have to buy it from somebody. But at least if we lease more areas for drilling, we receive more money in lease fees, legal fees, mineral extraction royalties, lease extention fees; and tax revenues from the corporation's profits. We create a larger revenue base. And oil prices go down internationally, because of increased global supply.
What is so hard about understanding that?
The fucking arabs think we're idiots, because we keep bitching at them to pump more, but refuse to drill what we have.

Wow! What a concept. You want to nationalize the ownership
of America's remaining natural resources for the benefit of the
American people instead of the Big Oil corporations?
But gosh, if we did that, we might get stuck having to pay
12 cents for a gallon of gas like those unlucky Venezuelans.
Wouldn't it be a major drag having to pay $1.20 to fill up
a 10-gallon gas tank, instead of paying 45 bucks?
The sluggish US economy might shift into overdrive with an
infusion of cheap gasoline. Food prices would drop because
it would be so cheap to transport goods by truck and rail.
Nah. That's clearly a bad idea. It's obviously much better
to let a small elite group of super-rich motherfuckers own
everything. I really enjoy getting ripped off. Don't you?

According to you we can't drill what we have because we don't have the capability. Maybe they think we're idiots because we keep getting mixed up. ;)

Learn to read! :read:
I said refine, not drill.
Do you put crude oil in your gas tank?
SM, do you, or you and Bill own this site?
Or did somebody actually make you an administrator?
