It's a touchy subject that both parents and kids alike are interested in. Your thoughts?

People blame video games for violence because it’s easy. They would never think to blame the parents of these little boogers. They wouldn’t dare ask, “Why didn’t you raise your kid to know the difference between right and wrong?”

Video games are not the problem. Bad parenting is.

I remember playing Doom for hours on end, & you do start to jump defensively when you are encountering people in the real world.
So it does effect people.

Maybe there should be some assessment of how well people can isolate their gaming 'reality' from their actual reality?

A blanket ban seems pretty over the top, where their is no good clinical data or any kind of response & behavior theory behind it.

We are so ignorant on how we operate, that this sounds mostly like politically/socially convenient hyperbole to 'blame' something external, for what are almost certainly, in large part, coming from our deeply embedded instincts.

Life has always been full of violence,
only in the delusional, insular denial of it in modern living do we think it is something that came & 'got' us.
We butcher untold millions of animals raised in nightmare conditions, simply to satiate our lust for meat.

People can be so silly.

Luckily 'i' never am.
