So much for the Democrat controlled Congress
Congressional Approval Falls to Single Digits for First Time Ever
http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/congressional_performance/congressional_performance
The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.
Last month, 11% of voters gave the legislature good or excellent ratings. Congress has not received higher than a 15% approval rating since the beginning of 2008.
The percentage of Democrats who give Congress positive ratings fell from 17% last month to 13% this month. The number of Democrats who give Congress a poor rating remained unchanged. Among Republicans, 8% give Congress good or excellent ratings, up just a point from last month. Sixty-five percent (65%) of GOP voters say Congress is doing a poor job, down a single point from last month.
Voters not affiliated with either party are the most critical of Congressional performance. Just 3% of those voters give Congress positive ratings, down from 6% last month. Sixty-three percent (63%) believe Congress is doing a poor job, up from 57% last month.
Just 12% of voters think Congress has passed any legislation to improve life in this country over the past six months. That number has ranged from 11% to 13% throughout 2008. The majority of voters (62%) say Congress has not passed any legislation to improve life in America.
Voters hold little positive sentiment about the future. Just 41% find it at least somewhat likely that Congress will address important problems facing our nation in the near future, while 55% find this unlikely.
Despite these negative attitudes towards Congress, Democrats continue to enjoy a double digit lead on the Generic Congressional Ballot.
Most voters (72%) think most members of Congress are more interested in furthering their own political careers. Just 14% believe members are genuinely interested in helping people.
A separate Rasmussen survey found that half of all voters believe America’s best days are in the past. However, another survey found that 64% of voters also believe that the world would be a better place if more countries were similar to the United States.
I bet you that more then 1/2 win re-election which is insane :(

Smurf-Herder, where do you think that approval number would be if there were 60 votes and the courage to impeach/bring charges, end these wars, and bring the troops home?

I bet those 9% are earning $1 million a year or more.
I'm not surpised that Dems have higher expectations of Congress, especially with Pelosi swinging the gavel !
I am proud that Independants like me give a 3%, even though 3% is way too high!!! But it does say that 97% of us know more than dems or reps!!!

So much for the Democrat controlled Congress
While the Democrats have a majority in the
House of Representatives, they don't really
have a majority in the Senate right now:
49 Republicans
49 Democrats
2 Independents
(And Joe Lieberman is really a Republican.)
In November, however, the Democrats will
gain more seats in the House and Senate.
With a Democrat in the White House and
a strong Democratic majority in Congress
(at least 55-60 Democrats in the Senate)
they can start undoing the damage done
during 8 disastrous years of neocon rule.

My prediction is, "Hollow Man" Barry gets elected as President. But the Dems lose the House and Senate. Everybody can see they haven't done a damned thing, except for the minimum wage, because everybody wanted to pander to the public with that. Otherwise, their strategy is to "accomplish nothing" so they can blame it on a Republican President. But I think this will backfire on them.

Liberals always have an excuse.
That mentality is their undoing.
that seems appropriate - congress is a bunch of liars and corrupt corporate sluts.
anti-incumbency might work - but everyone will cheat, and say that they will vote anti-incumbent, then vote their guy back in.
come on, november.
till then, put your money where your mouth is.

Youre much too kind to the politicians squealing at the trough in WA!
They are slimly, greedy, lying pigs. And thats their good side!
I still think we, the people need to get together and hire lobbyists!
Thats the only way we will be heard....short of cleaning house!

Don't you understand how congress works?
The House can pass legislation and in fact passed everything that Nancy Pelosi promised to pass in the first 100 hours. It was done 83 hours I think which is pretty good.
Then things went to The Senate where it got caught up in the typical politics and everything is getting blocked there. As long as people are willing to elect people based on parties then the Senators will continue to do only what's good for the party and screw the people.
You're post and comments are exactly the type of thing that help screw the people.
We call call them "Do Nothing" and ignore the facts or we can learn how our congress is run and throw out everyone playing party politics. Unfortunately that requires turning off the TV and the radio.
I won't vote for any incumbent until they stop the fighting and that won't happen until the sheep stop listening to the media.

You are the ONLY human being I've heard say that, out of every news network, internet source or talking head on TV.
Does it even matter, if all they got out of everything was only the minimum wage increase, to buy us off?
There's always some excuse, for getting elected and accomplishing virtually nothing.

people who only know how to repeat the corporate agitprop are the bread and butter of the corporate takeover of the country.
you really can't expect integrity or thoughtfullness from lapdogs.
yap lapdoggies yap. let your corporate masters control your minds and tell you what to say.

You mean to tell me that you've based your thoughts off of what Glenn Beck has told you for 18 months without ever fact checking? Dude, he's a recovering drug addict that has failed at everything he's ever tried accept getting people to listen to him. Remember, he has no experience in politics, economics, social work, journalism, military, foreign affairs, climate change, education or any of the topics that he speaks about. One minute he's spinning country music and the next he's talking about complex and important issues.

I can't find a single source that states these things weren't passed. The Neoconservative media refused to mention it for 8 or 9 months and then after everyone forgot they started making those false claims again.
"Here's all you need to know", if you hear it on Fox, Beck, Counter, Rush or Savage you better go get the whole story because they don't want you to know the whole story.

Even worse Glenn Beck is a Mormon. Still looking for the story on drugs, they all say he's a recovering alcoholic and drug attict. Probably a "CokeHead".
I've never seen an idiot that didn't fit the Mormon profile or vice versa, lol!

Beck has said that after he began his recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, he was baptized as a Mormon in 2000 and launched his talk show, which started on Tampa, Florida's, WFLA-AM in 2001. Premiere Radio picked up the show in 2002.

Will you get off the Glenn Beck bullshit.
I hardly ever watch him. And only listen to him in passing on the radio at work, when I'm near it. I just think what I do hear makes sense. And I get my news from multiple sources and usually check stories out though both sides.
You're just plain silly in your conservative paranoia.
Okay, so they passed things that mostly didn't get signed into law. So?
They're still the lowest rated Congress in US history - with Bush having a approval rating three times higher - that should tell you something.

Basically painting the whole crowd with a broad brush.

Of course they are because both sides are playing party politics and you've bought into the Bull Shit that it's the dems fault. You bought it hook, line and sinker. That line of thought comes from the Neoconservative programmers on Fox News, Glenn Beck and from the talk radio radio circuit. The political parties in the Senate keep everything blocked up like a constipated cow and then the media blames Pelosi who has nothing to do with the dead lock in the Senate.
They're playing you and you keep buying it over and over again.

I've been watching the Democrats suck puss since Jimmy Carter - there was no Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh or Fox News back in 1978. I used to be one of them.
