I watched this program tonight on The History Channel. It said,"250 million years ago a catalyptic event happened that destroyed most of the earth and the animals. The animals that did survive evolved into dinosaurs.
Then 180 million years ago the earth split creating separate continuents. The temperature soared to 500 deg.s and global warming went wild.
And then, 100 million years ago earth was ruled by dinosaurs. Volcanicism ( volcanos bursting and overflowing) brought to the surface diamonds in So. Africa. Volcanoes were diamond mines and the diamonds could only be brought up by major erruptions.
And 650 million years ago was lush with all types of plants. Then a mass extinction of most species of plants and dinosaurs were wiped out, which was brought on by erridium (meteor showers that had hit and became layered in rock).
Next came the world of apes and 50 million years ago, life is recovering and the first mammals arrive.
The African and European continents collide, and formed the Swiss Alps. The mountains are squeezed together making them higher and higher thus forming the Materhorn.
And uplifting and errosion (platecnics) creates all mountains in their heighth and shape. And 2 million years ago, man evolves from apes and steps on the earth for the first time and the ice age begins.
We are in a gap between ice ages. We're in a warming period. In 15,000 years, a new ice age may appear.
Coastal regions will crunch and some countries will disappear. Earth will be in turmoil. When the platecnic cycle ends everything will halt and the story of earth will be over. The oceans will be dry and earth will be dead. And anyone that survives will be searching for new planets in which to live on."
I hope I got this correct as I took a few notes and commited some of it to memory.
My point for this is that the earth goes through its natural changes and has been evolving for millions of years. Life finds a way to live on.

Yes, the climate will change....thats what it does and we didnt start
climate change and we cant stop it. Its the natural order of things.

Are there any studies that deny man made climate change that take into account the loss of green matter that man has caused? You know, trees and algae like stuff.
I'm just curious. I'm a firm believer that both sides are way off base because they're not trying to prove anything but trying to convince people and there's a massive difference.

I read an article about a month ago saying there is 4000+ scientist worldwide with no corporate affiliations who claim that global warming is occuring and people have very little if anything to do with it. They had tons of statistics of which for the most part I'm not interested in. They convinced me even though I already leaned that way from what I had allready gathered.

Over 31,000 U.S. scientists deny man-made global warming
By Dennis T. Avery
web posted May 26, 2008
In 1998, Dr. Arthur Robinson, Director of the Oregon Institute for Science and Medicine, posted his first Global Warming skeptic petition, on the Institute's website (oism.org). It quickly attracted the signatures of more than 17,000 Americans who held college degrees in science. Widely known as the Oregon Petition, it became a counter-weight for the "all scientists agree" mantra of the man-man Global Warming crowd.
Recently, with America being dragged toward Kyoto-style energy limits by cadres of alarmists, Robinson mailed a new copy of the petition to his original signers, asking them to recruit additional qualified scientists. Now his list includes nearly 32,000 American man-made warming skeptics with science qualifications. More than 9,000 hold scientific PhDs. Almost 32,000 thousand skeptics happens to be twelve times as many scientists as the 2,500 scientific reviewers claimed by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to form a scientific consensus.
Earlier this month Robinson held a press meeting at the National Press Club in DC, followed by a luncheon on Capital Hill, to which members of Congress and their aides were invited. Not surprisingly, attendance was low.
Robinson's petition states a truth: "There is no convincing evidence that human release of CO2, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing or will cause, in the foreseeable future, catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate."
What do these approx 32,000 scientists believe has caused the earth's warming since 1850 if it isn't CO2? He points to the sun. Robinson notes that over the past 150 years the sunspot index has predicted the Earth's temperature changes—with 79 percent accuracy—about ten years before they happen. The sunspots actually predicted the 2007 global temperature decline; the index turned down in 2000. The computer models didn't foresee it.
The correlation between Earth's temperatures and CO2 is only at the "accidental" level—22 percent and declining sharply over the past decade as the temperatures have refused to increase with the CO2 levels. Robinson says the lack of correlation between CO2 levels and past Earth temperatures proves that CO2 is not dominating our climate.
The Oregon chemist warns that "no other major scientific problem has ever been tackled the way the UN has approached global warming." The UN hosted a big meeting of scientists, he says, and then a small group of "authors" summarized the discussions into a global action plan. But the UN has never produced any evidence that humans are warming our climate. The UN panel says CO2 became the culprit "by the process of elimination" but such a process is neither scientific nor admissible in a court of law.
The forecasts of desperate temperature increases all come from computer climate models, notes Robinson. But the computer models keep forecasting more warming than we get. In fact, 70 percent of the earth's recent warming occurred before 1940, while virtually all of humanity's greenhouse gas emission has occurred since that date. The Earth's net warming since 1940 is a tiny 0.2 degree C.
"If CO2 isn't causing our tiny warming, then banning all our energy will simply make people poor and helpless, says Robinson, "The cold spells and heat waves nature will always throw at us, will then indeed, threaten human lives on the planet."

Yeah, HT, Ive been hearing and reading about that.
This will pass and the big question is we will be smart enough to adapt or will
we go the way of former species?
I was thinking last night about this "carbon footprint" junk. Many would like
to try and convict and punish America for our consumption of fossil fuels simply
due to the fact that we have been so successful and to take us down will of
course make everyone else so much better off!!!
Guess the wildfires out west dont create gases, or
the eruptions of volcanoes, lightning strikes of wooded areas
releasing the carbon of the burning trees into the air. There is a natural flow
of occurrences. Its only the evil west because of our greed and standard
of living.
If one wants to cling to the idea that we are powerful enough to change the
whole worlds climate, why is it that "we" are the only ones held accountable?
That should show you right there that there is an agenda beyond the Jolly
Green Giants lucrative investment scheme. Guess the emerging markets and
burgeoning populations dont count. They have a right to pollute. They are
only trying to acquire the standard of living of the evil west and of course
build up their military.
We need population control to adapt to the changing climate (the natural
one) and huge masses of humans can not be supported by changing climates.
When did the noble idea of promoting population control become so politically
incorrect? I had one child, she had one child and there are people out there
having friggin "litters" of babies.
Will we adapt or perish? Its up to us. Will the earth/globe survive?
You betcha it will as it has for millions and millions of years, even when there
werent any humans to bring about climate change. The earth will survive
whether we do or not. Again, its up to us to develop new methods of
farming to grow food in the changing climate, new forms of energy (multiple)
so that if one doesnt fit the plan another one will.
Theres nothing wrong at all and is the thing to do to be good stewards of the
land so that we have good drinking water and can grow enough food to sustain us in a changing climate and have good air to breathe. But its up
to us. The climate is going to do what it always has....change.
They named Greenland "GREENland" because it once was and may be again.

Liberals are mainly the group who are freaking over global warming. They are not mentally prepared and poorly equipped for survival as they have great dependency on government who in the event of a catastrophe would have a singular objective of self survival. The government would batten down the hatches on there lavish well stocked bunkers that we financed and built while the majority of us suffered and died. And when the coast was clear they would emerge from their bunkers and start making speeches again. But they would find that the survivors were the strong and the smart ones who would be skeptical of their beautiful speeches. The weak ones who had become dependent on them would be long dead.

Gore is a politician. Is he over blowing the effects of climate change? Of course. You'd have to be an idiot to not understand that.
However, you'd have to be an idiot to think that if we remove all the plant life on earth that it wouldn't effect oxygen levels.
The question isn't are we effecting climate change. Of course we are.
The question is "How much are we effecting climate change?" Obviously it's much less the what Gore claims. Odds are it's much different then what the administration claims as well.

You either need to be prepared to support your claims if you want to stay a member of this community.

Ab-so-toot-ly. That's certainly the question at hand. However, not one you'll hear from Gore. Sure, the chemicals have a small effect on the climate, but from all I've learned about climate changes since I was a kid, I would venture a guess that the change they are talking about is, let me see, bullpucky. The change is a natural one.

All without the power of the people....!
Great post, Cat Slave! Right on again! The earth is going to do what it has always done. Change, and all living creatures either change with it or whither away, so to speak.

Yes we understand that, but the argument is, why speed up the climate change. I mean we could possibly be causing the ice age to happen in 100 years instead of 15,000. Not a good idea...

On that note, I've read that most of the warming actually occured before the 1960s. And we're only talking about ONE DEGREE of temperature change .......... basing the argument on false data from some monitoring stations that are innacurate.
Check out this site. Most of the surface temperature monitoring stations in the US are not accurate - because of development around them since they were set up.

McCain says he's working hard to convince his party to open up to global warming and the change needed to slow the process, not just liberals Hog. In fact many Reps believe global warming is real and it ain't political mumbo jumbo to get votes.

Yeah, but ......... it's all based on frustration. Taking the time to make a logical argument with people who are idiots, who aren't worth the time. Who even if they agreed on a point, wouldn't acknowledge it, on principle.

The 'Money' is on the denial side of Global Warming,
Tens of Millions have been spent trying to hide & confuse the facts.

We don't need McCain to help straighten out this global warming stuff. We need to stop using so many chemicals and that will slow down the process. But it isn't going to stop the change no more than I can stop my hair from coming in grey. All I can do is color it. All we can do is lower our dependancy on chemicals of all sorts and emissions.
