Finally, somebody's starting to get somewhere with China's unbalanced trade policies.
US steel industry wins trade case against China
"WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. steel pipe manufacturers, who have been battling a surge in imports from China, won a major victory Friday when the International Trade Commission cleared the way for the imposition of stiff penalty tariffs for the next five years.
The commission voted 5-0 that the U.S. industry was being harmed by the import of circular steel pipe. The case opens a new avenue for beleaguered American manufacturers to seek protection against Chinese imports by alleging that the Chinese government is unfairly subsidizing its own companies.
The ruling means that penalty tariffs ranging from 99 percent to 701 percent will be imposed on Chinese imports of circular welded pipe, a form of pipe used in a variety of construction jobs from home plumbing to sprinkler systems and fencing."

Yip, yip, hurray!!!!! Maybe this is the first ripple in a tidal wave of Americans
standing up on their hind legs and saying NO MORE!!!!
What wonderful news!
Im sure someone will defend the Red Chinese and say this will just make
steel products cost more. Well, not any more. There may be a real bright
side to the oil thing...shipping costs! I heard on the radio the other day where
a company that had moved off shore for cheaper labor was coming back to
the US because of the transportation/shipping costs.
They always say every cloud has a silver lining.....corny, but maybe its true.
Happy, happy, happy!!!!!

This is going to be fun. I'm glad that this is happening but I'm concerned that after 5 years of building China imports that we're now going to see the full inflationary effects.
China can float their currency and really screw our economy now.

It's about damn time we got up and did something. I daresay it's faulty crappy piping. More than likely pure undalterated crap like the rest of the junk that is made in that country...
As far as I'm concerned, since it's a communist country we shouldn't even be buying anything from them for no other reason than that....seems like a good enough reason to me....

Well, thats the truth! Why is Cuba off the list but Red China is at the top and
leading the parade?
Boycott China. Shop at Goodwill and read labels and let the store manager
know when you are happy to see "made in the USA".....or if there isnt anything
made here, let the manager see $$ going out the door!
Weve been sold a bill of goods on this global neighborhood...this level
playing field which is nothing but lowering everyones living standard except
the elites and they planned it this way.
How much more needs to happen ie poison "everything" before people find
a spine and demand the flood of toxic waste from China stop!!!!

Yea, I'm with ya on that. However, does that mean I have to give up Chinese food? LOL
As far as Cuba goes I can't help you there. I haven't a clue, but am now wondering since they are both obviously in colusion with each other that maybe our politicans will begin focusing on the two of them...one can hope. Maybe it's because China is the bigger fish. I would think we'd be all over them both since Cuba is letting them drill for oil. Duh! That seems to be a given to me.

Have you looked at hte corporations that are profiting from moving jobs to China and the donors for the administration?
Things should be pretty obvious if you turn off the radio and do a few minutes of research.

I was just throwing in Cuba as it is a communist country and has been under
an embargo for decades yet the greedy powers that be are eager to do business
with Red China.

I dont have time to pour through papers or magazines or google everything in
the world. Im busy and shouldnt spend as much time here as I do and spend
my time more constructively. But this is fun!:p
I dont have to research who and how "they" did anything. I know and this
issue transcends party lines to those who can think independently of a political
party. If everyone spent more time problem solving we would all be better off,
but all these agendas have to be sustained so "whoever" can win will make
our lives all good again after years and years of getting screwed by lying
politicians on both sides. I know when Ive been screwed!

I'll believe this county has gained back it's industrial manufaturing base when those Sluts Wall-Mart, Costco and Sam's Club are forced to take it's lips off China's nipple.
Though I'm pessimistic, as this Countries people also have to break thier addiction to these company's teets as well.
And thus completes the cycle of dependence... Somewhat like drug addiction, the pusher always plays on other people's weakness for his own gain. :disbelief:

I keep thinking there may be a bright side to this energy thing. Maybe it will
be more profitable for companies to set back up in America but they neednt
expect slave labor to keep their costs down. Pay a decent wage, avoid
enormous shipping costs! It might work!
Yeah, Wally World sucks. Shop Goodwill.....I know I said that already but
its worth saying again.

Odds are pretty good that the Chinese food you're eating is made by US citizens, with ingredients that are made in the USA and the recipes are at least 99% American.
Soy Beans are one of Americas largest crops :)

I have to agree with you. Like I've said recently, since China is a communist country, we shouldn't even be buying a damn thing from them.
And I've also checked about eight different items while sitting on my butt here and each one is made in China. Go friggin' figure! Gee, let me take a while ass guess here, and say, ah, I would bet not many items from the U.S. are sold there. Whatduhyathink? Lol!

What usually sells of the US in China, is bootlegged copies of our CDs and DVDs.

Yeah, looks like "free trade" is only free one way....no tariffs on their stuff but
major tariffs on ours.
Yes, I have lots of stuff from China that I had no choice in purchasing. I needed
a new phone. A necessity. But I go out of my way to eliminate purchases
(and its been good for my pocket book) of imported junk from China.
Again...shop at Goodwill. You will be secure in knowing China got absolutely
none of your money!
Lets stop feeding the monster!
