After buying and creating a collection on DVDs now there are TWO new formats. After months maybe years the big companies could NOT see eye to eye and join forces to create ONE new format for the consumer but there are two for us to choose from. I see the new discs in the store now. If you like Goodfellas. The movie is available on Next Gen HD DVD. If you want The James Bond Or The Rocky Movies thank will be on Blu-ray But lots of great titles coming out and im sure it will be split up, and of course the discs are not interchangable

I know you can actually buy a DVD player for about $34.00 now
New players:
HD-DVD Player $500.00
Blu-Ray Player $1000.00

My understanding is the NEW PS3 will have Blue Ray installed for about $600.00

How many times we have to buy the same movies

VHS - Released in 1976
DVD - Released in 1996
Hd DVD & Blu-Ray - Released in 2006

So true, My dad had a huge collection of Beta tapes. Wasnt long before those were out. We never bought a Laser Disc player, but we had a VCR, then it was time to update the movie collection. Ten years later and I have a huge collection of DVDs and now the newer formats are coming short of the 10 year anniversary of the DVD. I have a plasma and I wanna enjoy the full rich crystal clear picture of HD, but Im NOT updating all my movies again. I will probably buy movies that are high in special effects like Star Wars, and Rocky:thumbsup:
