Will McClellan join the long list of other former administration insiders who spoke out against their masters and be branded a liar? I want to resurrect this from scam.com. My list:

Paul O'Neill--lying scumbag
Tyler Drumheller--lying scumbag
Randy Beers--lying scumbag
Richard Clarke--lying scumbag
Joe Wilson--major lying scumbag
Bob Woodward--lying scumbag
George Tenet--incompetent lying scumbag
Cofer Black--lying scumbag
Carl Levin--lying scumbag
Gen. Eric Shinseki--misguided scumbag
Victor Gold--new lying scumbag
Scott McClelland--traitorous lying scumbag
Dick Cheney--straight talker

Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan writes in a new memoir that the Iraq war was sold to the American people with a sophisticated "political propaganda campaign" led by President Bush and aimed at "manipulating sources of public opinion" and "downplaying the major reason for going to war."

Isn't that how the machine works?

Ford, great man until he wrote something bad about Bush.

Greenspan, great man until he said that Clinton was very smart and Bush wasn't.

Iacocca, great man until he stated the obvious.

Trump, great man until he said Bush is one of the 2 or 3 worst ever.

When Scott wrote the book he knew that he would be attacked. Dana already started earlier today.

Is there anything that corroborates what he writes?

(other than people wanting it to be true)

Considering he never questioned anything or spoke up in three years; just going along with everything ............... it's pretty profitable to have a book that says exactly what everyone wants to hear, with the Holy Grail of timing for a book like this - just before the election.

So he's twisting things now for money, or he was a deceitful hyporcite then.

That's one way of spinning it I guess. Yeah, just one more in a list of liars who are in it for the money. Here's a novel idea. What if what he and all those before him said is truth?

"In reality", it seems the wicked person prospers, while the good person, who tries to contribute to society simply by holding integrity as his foundation, is left in taters.

The truth is only as it is best verbalized. Absent of any empirical evidence allows the pshcopaths free reign. Until all you pre-disposed followers learn to turn on the reason and logic switch within your cerebral cortex.

This he said she said crap will continue to contaminate reality...

example of how easy most humans are to persuade: "If it doesn't fit you must aquite". OJ Simpson trial, this cute little rhyme changed the jurors thought process. Scary stuff... :disbelief:

Attacks from every where.

Isn't it possible that he was a loyal supporter that believed in the cause and simply became disgusted with the actions of his employer? I noticed that you left out that option in your statement above.

1. This book is a one time shot that will ruin his career.
- Now he can't go work on any more campaigns.
- Now he won't be a political press secretary any more
- Now companies won't hire him for PR jobs
2. He's now banned from all Neoconservative commentary outlets, which would have been the cushy jobs for him.

He did the job longer then anyone else for Bush. 3 years is a long time to be press secretary under this much pressure.

I'd like to point out that it was his job to act as PR for the White House and say what his bosses wanted him to say, despite his personal feelings or doubts. PR people are supposed to sell PR even if it is total BS. That is their job. As long as they get a paycheck they sell out to their bosses.

Ari Fleisher was wondering who the real Scott is, well there is (1) The Scott who was paid to be Press Secretary and (2) the Scott now trying to promote a book. Maybe much of his writing is a reflection on the past, rather than being caught up in the BS of the moment, essentially playing Monday morning QB, only this time people got hurt.

At the same time, he's young enough to know the consequences this will have on future employment opportunities, so his book is more gutsy in my opinion because he will likely never get a job ever again. Maybe he should have written this book at 65, when he no longer has to kiss behind.

Good point.

I think McClellan made a statement when he stepped down and just prior to that when he helped his mother in her bid to be the governor of Texas as an independent.

It was pretty clear that McClellan was uncomfortable inside the beltway. Now the way it was spun is explained by the one day delay from Bush Administration friendly outlets. The "news" is suppose to be timely. When there is a delay it means they're coordinating their talking points. And this is the best they can do - "Scotty has turned".

Scotty was always too nice, too soft-spoken and weak-willed for the job as Press Secretary. Ari has brass balls and heart of stone - he would sell a story 110% and had the balls to say "Americans should watch what they say" after the Bill Maher 9/11 comments.

Scotty would always say things that everyone in the room knew was BS and he would say it just to get the words out but it always left the impression that he never believed in the words himself.

There are a lot of critics of the Bush white house and its policies especially on Iraq will be intensely debated for decades. On a personal level, it is in poor taste to release the book so soon, but on an academic level, it might be essential to have these records before time passes and memories fade, and to learn from the mistakes and proceed smarter in the future.

I heard the publisher had him spice up re-writes.

1. What has he been doing for work lately?

2. His book will make him money; and he can find work as a token (anti-right friendly) "conservative" on left cable shows now.

From Fox News or Beck? Didn't you know you were going to hear those types of claims without any facts to support them? How old are you?

One thing I do know .....

I saw Scott on Book TV, on C-Span 2 this morning. I only saw the end of the show, but what he said I found amazing.

He said he's a Centrist; and his intention in writing the book was to help put an end to the Left vs. Right partisanship and the never-ending "campaign" mentality in DC. Yet his book is being used to fuel the fire.

He may just be exposing the truth. All the hate and fire seems to be coming from Bush supporters (such as the letter from Dole). The partisan media may be using it to fuel the fire but they use anything that they can get.

The partisan media is the real fuel for the fire. It's not the book. It's not the truth. It's not the lies. It's the people that choose to listen to the partisan media even while knowing full well that it's totally bias and partisan.

Don't blame what the partisan media is doing on Scott. After all, isn't it the blame that's really fueling the fire?

Yeah, I thought Olbermann was going to have an orgasm, when he announced an interview with the new Golden-boy.

So in other words, Scottie's book is completely worthless for the intended reason it was written - according to the author's stated intent.
