This (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080311/ap_en_ot/people_dawn_wells;_ylt=Ao5GmWl2QFkJbOfzznI_ZxgDW7o F) is the most disturbing news I read in some time.DRIGGS, Idaho - Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann on "Gilligan's Island," is serving six months' unsupervised probation after allegedly being caught with marijuana in her car. She was sentenced Feb. 29 to five days in jail, fined $410.50 and placed on probation after pleading guilty to one count of reckless driving.
Under a plea agreement, three misdemeanor counts -- driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance -- were dropped.
On Oct. 18, Teton County sheriff's Deputy Joseph Gutierrez arrested Wells as she was driving home from a surprise birthday party that was held for her. According to the sheriff's office report, Gutierrez pulled Wells over after noticing her swerve and repeatedly speed up and slow down. When Gutierrez asked about a marijuana smell, Wells said she'd just given a ride to three hitchhikers and had dropped them off when they began smoking something. Gutierrez found half-smoked joints and two small cases used to store marijuana.
The 69-year-old Wells, founder of the Idaho Film and Television Institute and organizer of the region's annual family movie festival called the Spud Fest, then failed a sobriety test.

What's next? Alfalfa dies as the result of a fight over money (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Switzer)? Jeff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Rettig) gets arrested for growing marijuana on his farm? Oops those already happened. No, Angela 'Penny Robinson' Cartwright (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angela_Cartwright) gets arrested for dealing in pornography. That would really break my heart.
Hat tip- Dr. Taylor at Poliblog who writes (http://www.poliblogger.com/?p=13388) "And here I thought Mary Ann was the good one!" Me too.
Update- Corrected post to say Angela not Veronica Cartwright but I did have the right wikipedia link all along. Bad me.

I don't know many people from the 1970's who ever stopped.

They're just getting to be "old" stoners.

They fined her $410 and 50 cents?

I like that - The Spud Fest lol

LMAO! I suppose that's better than being an old alcoholic bum. About the worst that would happen is the old stoner would have an eating attack and then fall asleep!

Another sign:

Bill Gates steps down
Press Trust of India

NEW YORK, June 27: After living his teenage dream of seeing personal computers on every desk, 52-year-old Mr Bill Gates today is leaving the job of running the world's largest software company Microsoft.

Being at the helm for more than 25 years, Mr Gates would be serving his last full-time day at the software colossus today.

The world's third richest man would be dedicating his time for charity works with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which was launched in 2000. Mr Gates would continue as chairman of Microsoft and would be involved in select projects based on direction from chief executive officer Mr Steve Ballmer. Mr Ray Ozzie is taking on the chief software architect role and Mr Craig Mundie as chief research and strategy officer position.

Mr Gates became the chairman in June 1981. A Harvard University dropout, Mr Gates had first set up Microsoft with his friend Mr Paul Allen in New Mexico. The biggest break for the company which was later moved to Seattle, came in 1980, when it inked an agreement with IBM to develop an operating system for computers. The operating system later came to be known as MS-DOS.
