In a strange twist, it is now the Democrats who are on the very of party splintering and inevitable November defeat. Republicans who worried last year about a divided party may have been worrying about the wrong political party. While McCain is not an ideal "conservative" nominee, he can make up to the base and firm his support with a solid, stable VP pick. The only thing holding him back from a November victory is his age and health.

Just like in 1980 and 1988, the Democrats will fight to the convention and their will be plenty of hurt feelings when a nominee finally gets picked. What had previously been a guaranteed Democrat victory over a George Bush-led GOP party that even a Ham-sandwich would beat any republican in most polls.

While the Democrats will gain exposure and media attention until the convention, it will be difficult to believe that whoever is left off the ticket will be able to hardily support the nominee. More importantly, the passionate ground workers of Hillary and Obama will be reluctantly or downright opposed to campaigning and getting-out-the-vote for the November election if their choice is not at the top of the ticket.

Will older-white women who backed Hillary really rally around Obama or even campaign for him? Will Black-Americans be able to campaign for Hillary after the Clintons have torn down the character of an inspiring politician?

Some people were worried about a divisive Hillary white house and its effects on the nation. Now we are seeing the effects of a divisive Hillary candidate on the Democratic Party.

Now, will Indpendents who had previously leaned democrat in polls be scared of both Obama and Hillary. Instead of record turnout, will McCain win by default after the nation and democrat-voters gets scared of either Hillary and Obama?

Will a 3rd party candidate emerge after the convention - maybe Bloomy can get back into the race?

Is there really enough difference between the Democrats & Republicans to matter?

I will probably vote Nader unless the Democrats start protecting the civil liberties our forefathers fought & died for and quit lying to the American people about renegotiating NAFTA.
