So I'm trying to become a dot com web 2.0 millionaire and I'm learning about creating website, etc. does anyone recommend Go Daddy? Their prices are cheap. However, i don't know how to create a website, or if i host it on their servers. I certainly don't want to pay for server space.
Has anyone also heard of Name.com ? I stumbled upon them and their prices seem cheaper.
Thanks for any advice guys!

I use godaddy, have for about two years now. They are about the best you can get for the price. What they do is basicly rent you a certain amount of space on their servers, unless you go with a dedicated server (which is a whole server dedicated to you) that can be quite a bit more expencive and really a waste of money until you get to the point where you have that much content and learn how to get the traffic to it. Just make sure you read the terms and conditions, and know what you can put on your website and what you can't.
Never heard of name dot com.

I buy domains from Godaddy. Never tried their build a website with their software. I hear their tech support is quite good, mostly via email and post to website forum for help. Server space is cheap, 1 page of text with a couple of pictures will use less than a half a megabyte of server space.
Name.com looks easy. They use server side software so all the coding/prgram language is embedded in their software, no editing or training
required to use it. I've seen similar applications, just type and upload pictures to the pages. Tech support is the key, only one way to find out if they support their customers.
http://www.bravenet.com/ offers free webspace, I used them a couple of years ago, fairly easy, tech support is an 7.5 on one to ten scale with 10 being perfect.
http://www.acomsitebuilder.com/ is $5.95/month I may build a financial site with them, still looking at legal issues. I hear they have good support too.

I'm no computer whiz. Godaddy is cheap - my sons built my websites so I did not incurr that expense. I have just one warning for you - pay the annual dues. I don't blame godaddy one bit - if you let your domain name lapse you'll pay much much more to get it back - or someone else will buy it. It's not millions (I think I paid $90) but if it's your business website you really do not want your competitor to have it.

I have more than one hundred websites registered at GoDaddy.com
Keep in mind that you don't need to have the Registrar (GoDaddy.com) be the same as your Host (Pick One). In my opinion, GoDaddy has the best registration deals, but fairly lousy hosting deals.
For hosting, I use Hostgator for the following reasons:
1. I host 50 websites there, each with its own domain for $9.95/mo. They are one of the few Hosting companies who allow you to host unlimited domains on your account.
2. Their back-end control panel is easy to use and has tons of scripts and plug-ins, including message boards like this one, which you can install and have up and running in about 5 minutes.
3. Their online customer service is really good. I was surprised because after I signed up I had no idea how to proceed and get a website up, but they walked me through it online through a dialog box.
4. They have unlimited email addresses.
5. They offer unlimited auto-responders, which basically are auto-emails sent out to inquiring or potential customers. Very useful when building an online business.
Anyways, if you want to use my affiliate link to check it out, I'd appreciate it.
If you pay in advance (which makes sense once you get up and running), it's only $7.95/month.
