"We should turn Russia into a sheet of glass".
For decades I heard statements like this. They were calls to kill everyone inside of the USSR mainly because they weren't a democracy and focused on keeping "The Party" in control. Many people truly believed this and wanted to do exactly that.
The most wonderful person I've met in my life is my Ukrainian wife. Most people that meet her talk about how sweet, considerate and sincere she is. She's also a wonderful mother that as far as I know has ever had a bad thought or feeling towards anyone.
I've met some of her family and they're all similar. They some of the most wonderful people I've ever met that would give the shirt off the their back to someone that just a few years ago wanted to see the USA kill them all in a nuclear blast.
One of my best friends is from Iran and another from Syria. I could call these people right now and if I told them I needed them here right now they would travel 600+ miles to be with me and my family even I refused to give them any explanation.
I think some of Gods greatest creations are these people that I would not know if the war mongers were allowed to have their way.
15 years ago I heard calls to make The USSR glow because they spoke about "The Party" and felt that all comrades should do "What is best for The Party".
Today I hear calls for making the Middle East Glow by people saying they're doing "What is best for The Party".
Any time some mentions they want to do what is right for "The Party", I remember the cold war and I remember that 15 years ago anyone in the USA making that statement would be condemned for hating democracy. Today we elect people that openly state that they put "The Party" first instead of the people.
It's just interesting how times have changes.
