Oil closes at a new record high today - $100.01 close

It got higher than that midday at the beginning of january - but today it actually CLOSED at over $100.

Presumably on the news that OPEC is planning to reduce production. And possibly other bits of bad news like that private Citibank report.

It looks like that might be only the Cushing - that's american oil, and some venzualan.

New York Light Crude - mideast oil - is at $99.56.

Europes oil is at 98.74.

I'm glad that Dick Cheney put his energy plan into action instead of worry about terrorists when he took office. Just think, oil might still be around $20 a barrel if he didn't get involved.
