At issue here is amnesty for Telcos and amnesty for illegal aliens.

In 2000 people elected Bush and should have known that he for amnesty of illegal aliens. If they didn't then shame on them. Certainly by 2004 even those that refused to educate themselves knew Bush was for amnesty.

Many of those same people are now bashing McCain because he worked with Kennedy to produce a bill calling for amnesty.

I'm told that we shouldn't do that because we can't give amnesty to criminals. Even if we change the laws they were criminals when hired by American companies.

Many of these same people that voted for a President that wanted amnesty, bash McCain for working with Kennedy to provide now claim that we should give amnesty to Telcos that broke the law. In fact, the amnesty is more important then American lives.

I thought that was what he meant. So, of what benefit does it give citizens if the phone companies are held liable when the real bad guys ARE those that made the law in the first place?

Shouldn't we stop giving our Government officials amnesty from writing and passing laws that violate our Constitutional rights?

What laws did the telco companies break?

At the time they weren't allowed to tap people's communications inside the USA without judicial over site and proper authority. Bush, just like Nixon, felt that he could ignore our way of life in favor of dictatorship. The Telcos illegally tapped communications and then passed them along.

If they did nothing wrong then they don't need amnesty.

If there really is a danger then the administration should be pushing to have the danger removed without combining it with amnesty.

If we give one group amnesty then why not another?

HD has no fire left in him since I put him on ignore. Radio Guy is banned and Cat slave may have finally been eaten by the Rotweiler next door.

You all wanted "civil" debates. Now you got them.
