This is creepy as fuck. A democrat admits they are afraid of the corporations blocking a democratic presidency if they allow an impeachment.

Conyers expressed fear of what might happen following an impeachment, fear of installing a Bush replacement or losing an election. The "corporate power structure", he said, would not allow impeachment without unleashing "blowback." Conyers told Ellen Taylor and Manijeh Saba: "You need to be more than brave and courageous. You need to be smart."

Bill, it not been a secret that corporate money and connection feed the congressional engine.

Most of that money is spent buying television access and paying for boots on the ground.

I believe that corporation are beginning to take serious financial hits now in the beginning time of our comming depression...this will blunt their clout.

I also believe that television's use of the public's airwaves should be held to it origional contract to provide FREE airtime to the public weal in payment for the FREE use of their bandwidth. There is no possible reason that corporations should attain sole use of specific bandwidths without some compensatory service in trade.

As far as corporate energies spoiling the election, unless you are asleep, you can see they are doing everything they feel is legally possible to kill all but mccain and his clone in these primaries.

I expect they will grow to their maximum ill effect during the election period to swiftboat the democrat who faces mccain.

My preference is to go down...if down is the outcome...swinging. I believe that targeted boycotting of selected corporations will alert them to consider new methods of interacting with those who support them with their custom and those who govern them with their host nation's laws.

They are a great threat to how our country will survive these next few years.

...

This why I believe that if Obama is the (D) candidate, they will chew up him into little tiny pieces and spit him out before breakfast.

When he talks about running these guys out of town, I have to admit to a certain cynicism. They will not be slinking out along the Beltway with their tails between their legs, just because there's a new sheriff in town.

This is more about gaining votes than support for impeachment. People starving over politics is just plain stupid. These people need mental counseling.

[/QUOTE]= "I think the people Conyers is really listening to are too smart for their own good but lacking a bit in the bravery and courage area. Their wise strategy places the outcome of elections ahead of preserving the democracy in which those elections are held or even the verifiability of those elections. And, on their own terms, they are probably wrong".

Well, I don't know if we know enough about the whole conversation to judge it - he might have just been mirroring back to the folsk he was talking to the language that they brought to the conversation - that's a typical politicians trick.

It does seem creepy, tho. "Blowback" from the "Corporate power structure". It's like freaking science fiction, like a bad movie.

Stefan, I don't have faith that americans could organize a boycott or anything else that could really block what the corporatists are doing.

But hey, who knows, it might happen, if things get uncomfortable enough.

"Stefan, I don't have faith that americans could organize a boycott or anything else that could really block what the corporatists are doing."

Bill, This population is of many differing factions, official and by habit...my point is that without solid core values of morality and fair play, as this adminestration has labored so diligently to dumb down in favor of who wins and who looses...the loud voices asmong all the groups tend to be the youngest speaking...the "trend setters".

I believe this notion of David and Golieth, us against the corporate megalith, might trigger a passion in those young which by the time they move onto their next passion, the rest of us might have gotten the point.

It's not a lock-down producing theory, but most great upheavals have begun willy-nilly with attitude more than convincing fact. We, as a people, are no longer thinkers, we move farther and faster seeking pleasureable experience.

This attitude will shortly become modified as we slip from atop our hill, individually and as a first nation.

I am not pessimistic about this impending change, as I firmly believe that want and need create our next heroes...both local and national.

I am also shamed by how miserably our nation reacted to being winners in the international sweeps, but we will learn and revise and grow to reclaim our position ....so we can act miserably again.

But keep giving the politcians more and more power while they serve their corporate masters. Good God Americans are stupid.
