It looks like Trent Lott got out right before the new ethics reform and the new lobby laws went into place. If he would have waited just a few more weeks he'd have to stay of K Street for 2 years.
This is how the man of strong family values wants to spend his retirement. Away from his family and with the other K Street crooks.

Lott, Breaux go into business together
In one of the least surprising moves in recent political history, former Sens. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and John Breaux (D-La.) announced they would open up a bipartisan lobbying shop along with their sons, Chet Lott and John Breaux Jr.
"In many cases today, companies employ a Democratic firm and a Republican firm to advise them on important issues," the two former senators said in a joint statement. "The Breaux-Lott Leadership Group will provide a range of services through just one firm possessing years of experience at the highest levels. It is clear over the last several years that the only way to accomplish true results in Washington is through a bipartisan approach, which is what we will provide."
Lott just recently left the Senate after 34 years (14 House, 20 Senate) in Congress. Breaux retired from the Senate at the end of 2004. The two Southerners, both known for their dealmaking ability, formed a close relationship during their service on Capitol Hill, and the possibility that the two would team up was widely anticipated. Breaux had been serving as senior counsel to lobbying giant Patton Boggs before today's announcement.
Bret Boyles, Lott's chief of staff, will also leave Capitol Hill to work for the new firm.
