Since active military have to go through a little extra to voice their opinions using old whistle-blower rules, there has been little voice coming from them - however that is evidently changing now - I noted in a thread a few days ago about 60 or so members that were raising their opposition to the Iraq war - and started a petition on line voicing those opinions to their congressmen which is perfectly legal - that number yesterday increased to over 200 - and rising - wonder if it will ever reach the 250,000 we had during Viet nam that signed the petition?

219 members of the US military, at least 98 of them on active duty and others on active reserve, are calling for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.
The military members released a statement through the website
appealforredress.org:
"As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq. Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home."
Although members of the military take an oath to follow orders, a lawyer for the group says this Appeal For Redress is legal and can, at least in theory, be used by military members without fear of recourse. More military members are expected to follow the 219 service members who have already submitted.
